Coconut Splash did have an entry for chase 2 mile 7 at Chepstow tomorrow but wasn't in the final decs. I have been waiting for this horse to come out, having backed it against chantry house and messir des obeux. So a possible step in trip or could the PP gold cup still be a possibility ? The prospect of that is very exciting and given Trainer won it last year etc...

It is but race fitness appears to be more and more important in that race 7b. It's usually won by one that's already been out and that's why I've been watching for an entry. Too late after this weekend I'd say and he's not entered in anything.

Now has three entries this weekend, two handicaps and one novice chase

I do like the PP chase talk re CS. Could have ourselves a steamer. Pity no fu**er is pricing it up ! Bookies are proper shit this year. They've given up I think. Us punters have finally won!

Would CS keep the same mark if he was to bounce out and win on the weekend (137) , or would he need to not win to keep a modest mark for the PP GP - from the entries on the weekend do we have any idea what is likely intention may be, I note two are handicaps and one isnt... does that have any bearing?

Over the last 12 year's ,winners have been between 134 and 160 . In that time 7 winners have been between 143 and 148. Only one winner in that period though has been aged 6 which would be a negative.

There’s no Entries, until tomorrow.
Outside of some Festival races, there’s not many handicaps that I’d want a market to bet in where there are no entries yet.

NOTICE TO TRAINERS - PERTEMPS FINAL H'CAP HURDLE AT CHELTENHAM FESTIVAL 2022

Trainers are strongly advised to note that the only 2 qualifying races held in Ireland for the Final of the above race will be at Punchestown on Sunday 14 November and at Leopardstown on Tuesday 28 December. There will no qualifiers held in Ireland in 2022 (there used to be one held at Punchestown in mid-February).

Maybe this is why Gordon started early qualifying tullybeg at the weekend

I'm sure there only used to be two Irish qualifiers, I remember at one stage there used to be more qualifiers run in France than Irerland for some reason.
Saxon Warrior is a handicap guru and can no doubt confirm...

I can never find on the BHA Website or anywhere, a list of Pertemps Qualifiers.

The French ones seems to have stopped a while back and the Irish just have two.

The Punchestown February one has now been moved to Sunday 14th November.

That puts a spanner in any plans to run a novice like Delta Work late on in Ireland, they would have to travel to Britain in the late flurry of February qualifiers instead.

Reactions: Hurdles or chasing
Not sure where to put this but a very nice jumping performance from Ashton Lad earlier. Barely put a foot wrong and winged the last when needed for Harry and went on to win fairly comfortably. Not sure if hes a graded horse but maybe one to track for the chase handicaps. I had him added at 20/1 with Hills any race

Skybet have priced up quite a few horses for specific races in their RequestABets section.. Before Midnight for Grand Annual, Tullybeg Pertemps, Zanahiyr Coral Cup, Cappucimix Grand Annual amongst others - might be worth a look for anyone who may want an early handicap bet.

Coral have a Pertemps market only including qualifiers at the moment as well.

I had him in my tracker to watch out with the Ultima in mind, but he may end up being a bit better than that and won't get a workable mark. It depends if Skelton thinks he can make up onto a graded horse, but for me the novice chase division looks stacked. Perhaps his next couple of runs will be low key placed efforts looking for a mid to high140's mark.

Galahad Quest for the Ultima. Horse with a nice profile for a trainer who likes the race.

@specture CS has been jocked up over three miles at Exeter , could that still read prep run for PP gold cup or no?

I am alone in thinking that Maries Rock doesn't look a completely lost cause. Will need to be better in preliminaries and clearly needs to held in off a strong pace but it was still strange to see the jockey pull in behind a rival when the winner had skipped multiple lengths clear today. She was really highly thought off a couple of years ago and now has a mark which could be used wisely in a big handicap (where there will be a strong pace she craves) this year. The County or Coral Cup (trip might not be ideal but trainer has a good record) could be potential Festival targets.

Wouldn't be running that close to the PP chase. I'd imagine if he runs at Exeter then he's very unlikely to be going to Cheltenham.

I liked Proschema for the coral cup until Skelton blew his mark today
