2014 Supreme Novices Hurdle

Avoid the hype

Recent trend has been towards longer prices with 6 of the last 9 winners going off 10/1 or bigger, including a 40/1 winner.

Going to have a go at jocking them up...corrections and omissions please ;). Id have one of the Pipe horses at the bottom running and would have thought Splash of Ginge more likely to go handicapping. Havent got AP up on anything at the minute. Regal Encore, Cup Final and Gilgamboa are all still entered but their handicap marks look too good  for this. Skybet are sponsoring and seem to be at least equal best price on most runners. Anyone got a view on the Ferguson horse for this ?

I can see Pipe letting the Liquidator run in this if he has proven that his last run was a once off. He was as low as 12/1 at one stage for this...

Rated 142 which might be generous ? Gets him into his Dads race ( he has a bad record in it !)

i had a few quid on zamdy man yesterday after pipes french horse smashed cole harden and boosted the form a little, i see on betfair he has been taken out of the supreme list? my 2 are him and irving, did really like garde la victorie but i think he needs much better ground

Checked on Twitter and seems zamdy Man is not entered :(

Wicklow Brave has improved all year.

Cup Final might be a long shot ?

Snipped from Catching Pigeons
It should also be remembered that Cup Final was made favourite to beat Paul Nicholls' emerging star on their respective hurdling bows at Taunton, and has not been seen out again since suffering a four length defeat.

There were excuses that day, including a leg injury sustained during the race. Although lay-off and lack of experience are against him here, a good run is anticipated and he is another to note for the Spring campaign.

Luke Tarr (Head of PR Star Sports), Claude Duval (The Punter’s Pal from The Sun), Tom Lee (from Channel 4 Racing) and Bill Esdaile (racing editor City AM) as they bring their best bets for each of the big races.

Forget about Cup final.

Minella Foru was given a bit of an eyecatcher at the weekend. Probably County bound ?

Josses Hill and Vautour both looking a bit shaky on Betfair.

Nicky Henderson did mention that Vaniteux may be putting himself in the Supreme Novices hurdle picture by working brilliantly recently..."I look at him (Vaniteux) and think, can I really not take him to Cheltenham". The question is whether he is shining compared to Josses Hill

Strange market this evening on Betfair. Have added Sgt Reckless at 50s. At least he is an intended runner ( I think)

EW Value ?

"Splash Of Ginge is probably going to go for the Supreme Novices, the owner is very keen to go," said Twiston-Davies.

Some serious love for Wicklow Brave the last while. Granted he has shown a lot of promise and is obviously impressing at home but again I think it's a case of valuing potential over performance which is very prevelant in racing. Vautour and Irving have the best form and are the two I'd be following. That said I do think Western Boy if he lines up could be the fly in the ointment. If Fahy sends him over there after such a long break and with his inexperience, and the fact that he has said that he's minding him this year, must be worth a second look
