When I choose the triumph horses I go for trainers who got a good strike record and also good jockeys who have a decent record over the years in this race. I tend to take a look at Hendersons Kings and Elliots mainly the three I look at.
Around 10 or so years ago, before the big investment started in juveniles, Alan King used to have a good record in the race. He has a horse called The Olympian who has been sold to J.P. McManus and this could be the horse to bring him back into the mix again. He’s by a new sire with no jumps progeny to reference but he looks like he could be a nice type if they go jumping.
Okay but Alan King isn't a positive over Willie Mullins, is he?
I'll save you some money... Mullins will have more winners than King
Why do you think Mullins had a bad record with 4 year olds? The fact (and it is a fact, I'm not disputing) that he hasn't had the winner, with no context doesn't mean it's a reliable method to approach the race.
It's freakish that he hasn't won it, like it was in a Gold Cup. More so in fact, as he's better with hurdles in my opinion
Although I’ve mentioned two Alan King horses for this, He’s not been a player in this for a while and the focus and investment from the Irish has turned the table in recent years.
He's probably not a trainer that's going to be doing well at Cheltenham in any races.
Perhaps he eyes opportunities away from March now, Talkischeap a decent example? Could have taken in the Ultima, but was saved for the Bet365 Gold Cup at Sandown.
Sceau Royal I'm sure will take his chance, but it's feasible his "best day" this year will come on decent ground somewhere else?
The Glancing Queen won at Aintree, more likely to follow up there this year than make a dent in any of the Novice Hurdles at Cheltenham?
Maybe it's just a hunch without substance, but Alan King would be a negative for me nowadays. Trainers like Harry Skelton and Harry Fry are more interesting for Cheltenham...I think they're on opposing trajectories.

Sceau royal still a massively under rated horse on here, he's a very good 2 mile chaser. He was only 3rd because daryl jacob quite rightly tried to beat a freak of a horse and slip one early on altior when he hit his flat spot and go for victory, politologue was ridden to pick up the pieces. IF theres no altior in the race, hed have been held together and a handy winner imo.
Absolutely agree, he was my first antepost bet for the 2020 festival. Im worried they are going to step him up, the Peterborough has been mentioned, although with the Altior news they would be mad not to run in the Tingle and in reality they almost certainly will. Hes a decent bet for the CC at 20/1 for me and ew as well
Twitter seems to think Chev Park have bought this. Had horses with Henry & Willie last year too.
Robcour are the new owners
And trained by Jessica Harrington (from One Jump Ahead)
Am i right in reading that Gin On Lime has deff gone to Harrington?
Gaspard Du Seuil added for the Triumph 33/1, from the same family as Defi Du Seuil and an impressive flat win on debut he goes in to the book.
Owned now by City Islands owner, Sean Mulryan, I'm not sure where he's been sent but I'd imagine to Martin Brassil again.
Also dded Tombee Du Ciel 33/1, Munir/Souede with Henderson now, from France.
