Royal Ascot 2019

Tomorrow I've backed.
Sunday Sovereign - close to max bet for me - 7-2, saver on Aali @ 9-1
King Ottakar 9-1, Fox Chairman 11/2
Fleeting - similar story as above - 9-4
Thomas Hobson 28-1 ew
Migration 11-1, Hero Hero 20-1 ew
Sinjaari 8-1.

Will likely back persian moon in last but waiting for 40-1 or bigger, may back constantinople also.
Randomly a massive draw bias in last race tomorrow. really tough to place from a low number draw.

Theory of Time 14/1ew
Norway 7/2 (becoming a cliff horse)
Zabeel Prince 14/1
Agrotera 8/1 , I can fly 5/1
Afaak 25/1ew, What's the Story 25/1ew, Settle for bay 12/1ew

Nice result with Afaak there Faugheen, I'm assuming their all singles for today.

Had a really good Day 2 with Dashing Willoughby at 14/1 ( not the 12s I reported last night! (backed him at weekend) and Southern Hills at 10/1, wins as singles and also linked to some antepost multiples.

Will post Day 3 positions later, once I’ve checked markets and decided whether to add any others - I defo have Fox Chairman as my bet of the week, and will be in the centre of a lot of those multiples.

All singles BC. Was having a shocker until Afaak won but a decent bet on him has got me back in front, just.

That draw bias is a tough one to explain but there does seem an advantage to those drawn high. A righthand bend after a a few hundred yards would make you think it's best to be drawn low, but evidently not.

Yeah, they seem to get the best of the start and must be something to do with the angle of the stalls, or lack of room on inside. Then they appear to be constantly turning so it's hard to move up as they tend to go two by two. The inside numbers tend to spend too much energy at the start to get a position and pay for it later on.
But, it may also just be an anomoly, but I'm gonna follow the higher numbers for now.

reminds me of an ascot 2m or 2m 4f handciap hurdle where you need to be up with the pace (more often than not) going round the bend turning for home.

You just have to hope the jockeys know this type of shit.

Early thoughts on the Britannia Q?

The form of Migrations run against Fox Chairman looks very strong, he's certain to stay and looks to be drawn well - can see why the money is pouring in.

Hero Hero is also drawn well. The maiden at Chelmsford where he finished 3rd has produced plenty of winners and all weather form does seem to transfer over well at Ascot. Out of No Nay Never - another positive at Ascot.

I like Beatboxer but he's very weak in the market. Worrying.

Got in early on a few tomorrow.

5:00 Migration 11/1ew
5:35 Sir Ron Priestley 13/2ew

ew trixie
3:05 Fox Chairman 9/2
5:00 Migration 11/1
5:35 Good Birthday

Ante post
Good Birthday 18/1ew
Fox Chairman 17/2
Beatboxer 14/1

Will add Beatboxer again if he keeps drifting.

Added Hero Hero 15.3/1 ew in the Britannia with Hills price boost.

The market must be taking the scar daddy ground thing into account, but it may well be good ground 5pm tomorrow.
If you fancy beatboxer then i wouldn't let it put you off.
This race is as tough as the hunt cup obviously but good fun to look through.
aside from the two i've already backed I've been watching King ademar's price and may back this at 12-1 win only.
The other thats catches my eye, cos i liked it as a two year old, and the jockey is a great judge over a mile in these races as his patience often gets rewards as they go too hard up front, and thats Dark Vision, who may well be my only low draw bet.
The french horse made a reasonable fist of going alone from stall one in the last today and sooner or later the low draw will come good, and if they come over then spencer may well get a good lead in and plenty of room to come down the side. Just not sure the horse is good enough. But think i've jst talked myself into backing it with paddy's 6 places 28-1.
proper tough race though, and if i profit from this one as well as hunt cup then i'll feel lucky.

I love Spencer over the straight mile but the weight and draw was putting me off. If he continues to drift then I'll have to back him. I remember Bless Him being 50/1 a couple of years ago because of a perceived draw bias and he scooted up.

*Spencer was in the plate that day too:p

Onto tomorrow!

Still Southern Hills means I'm still standing and haven't completely jacked it in!

Added a king power each way Heinz

Sunday Sovereign 2/1
Fox Chairman 7/2
Queen Power 3/1
Hero Hero 14/1
Good Birthday 14/1

Day 3 selections, and much my best position of the week (before they run and it all goes pear-shaped). Most backed as soon as 5-day decs came through, and luckily with some of them I got in before they shortened.

Race 1) Sunday Sovereign 2 points @ 9/2
Race 1) Air Force Jet 1 point @ 14/1

Race 2) FOX CHAIRMAN 5 points @ 11/1

Race 5) Hero Hero 2 points @ 25/1
Race 5) Migration 2 points @ 20/1

Race 6) Constantinople 2 points @ 5/1

————————————

Following Dashing Willoughby’s Win (I had 14/1) I have that win rolling into 3 doubles and trebles with:
Race 2) Fox Chairman @ 8/1
Race 5) Migration @ 20/1

Following Southern Hills Win (at 10/1), I have 2 Yankee’s containing him plus three others:

Yankee 1
(Southern Hills 10/1 Won)
Race 2) Fox Chairman 5/1
Race 5) Hero Hero 20/1
Race 6) Constantinople 5/1

Yankee 2
(Southern Hills 10/1 Won)
Race 2) Cape Of Good Hope 5/1
Race 5) Hero Hero 20/1
Race 6) Constantinople 5/1

I have a Yankee starting for Thursday/Friday that I backed before the meeting started.
Thurs Race 2) Fox Chairman 8/1
Thurs Race 6) Sinjaari 8/1
Friday Race 1) Daahyeh 20/1
Friday Race 5) Hotsy Totsy 10/1

And finally a Thursday/Friday smaller stakes Yankee based on horses who have performed softer ground
Thurs Race 3) Star Catcher 8/1
Thurs Race 4) Thomas Hobson 20/1
Friday Race 2) Jack Yeats 33/1
Friday Race 6) Collide 12/1
Couldn’t resist having Jack Yeats in here, he looks like he could build into a 12/14f Stakes horse, (maybe even the St Leger) though I know this may be too soon.

Hope they all line up tomorrow (fingers crossed no non-runners) and I can watch the drama play out. If could manage one winner then I hope it’s Fox Chairman.

Good luck on Day 3 everyone.

Top betting yesterday CPC, we’ll done, I hope you generated a decent profit.

Love your confidence on Fox Chairman Hampton Fox, 5 points is epic, I hope the Fox gets the job done as does Queen Power for Lobos. Are you Leicester fans by any chance??

I’ve just about got my head above the water on day 3 but could really do with a lifeline today as I’ve hit the canvas 3 times and punch drunk. I need a Fleeting victory to give a major boost to a live Lucky 63 but gone for the following Multiples:

L63: Sunday Sovereign, King Ottaker, Fleeting, Dee Ex Bee, Beatboxer & Constantinople

L31: Ventura Rebel, Kick On, Aweedram & Constantinople

L31: Expressionist, Fox Chairman, Starcatcher, Stradivarius & Dark Vision

And finally for the Royal meeting a Royal theme:

King Ottaker, Flag of Honour, King Ademar, Queen Power & Sir Ron Priestly

I’m tempted to follow suit and do a King Power Lucky 31 and a Gosden Lucky 15

Good luck all, let’s keep those winners rolling in, hopefully your wave will drag me along with you!!
