Martin Pipe Handicap Hurdle 2019

Looking at Nickys blog this week it looks like Pym will be going here;

"Pym bumped into a couple of good horses earlier in the season but came back with a decisive win on the same day and beat a really, really good horse called The Cashel Man! I would have thought we’ll probably go down the handicap route with him (Pym) and something like the Martin Pipe could come into the equation but he may run again beforehand as he had a mid season break so is relatively fresh."

Would be happy personally after having a bit on the any race market earlier in the season.

DALLAS DES PICTONS for me, from the moment he strode 10 lengths clear to Win a maiden last month. Gordy entered him on Cheltenham trials day to assess his UK Mark, which was 135, cw Irish rating of 130. So he had to run again and win which he did in a big field handicap at the DRF on Sunday. Irish Mark up 7lb to 137. UK Mark given today at 141 (as Gordy has shrewdly entered him in a Newbury handicap on Saturday to check on his revised UK rating). Already taken 16/1 and 14/1 before UK ratings gave him a prime chance of a run here. So took the 14/1 that was left. Biggest now is 12s with Unibet, generally 10/1 elsewhere.

Who do you think would ride Dallas des pictons hampton ?
Dylan Robinson perhaps

I would imagine the trainer would have a queue of willing conditionals, and take his pick of the one he trusts the most. Got it right with Blow By Blow off top weight last year. That ride was a masterclass.

Have a look at ECLAIR DE BEAUFUE too. He did exactly the same with him. Got a 137 market Chelters trial day (130 in Ireland). He ran close up 4th to Off You Go in the 2 mile Ladbroke Hurdle at the DRF on Saturday, and entered him for same race at Newbury this weekend as DDP to see what his revised Mark would be. It's now 136 in UK. Not sure which is the race for him. The County?

Agree,donagh meyler is class
Unfortunately he cannot ride in it this year

Dallas De Picton is now in the top 3 betting for the Pertemps, do you think he will enter that race instead of this??

I think you might well have missed your day with him. He was 8/1 the day before in a weak looking race, void of quality at the weekend. He would be running of a considerably higher mark here than he was at the weekend against what will be much better horses with plenty ahead of there mark. he's only a couple of pts bigger with a far harder task. I won't be following him in here personally.

Probably people just going off the fact he won over 3m at Leopardstown on Sunday but Gordon ran The Storyteller & BBB over 2m 7f before targeting the Martin Pipe. Getting 3m around Leopardstown on good ground doesn’t guarantee he’ll get all of the trip around Cheltenham with probably more ease in the ground!

I'd personally prefer him out of the 2 in the martin pipe. He can find improvement for the step up in trip. And his marks fair.

I’ve a bit of a quandary. I put on a 50p Lucky 31 the following horses before the DRF and 3 have them have drifted and 2 have shortened and I don’t know whether to cash out as the cash out is currently same value as Bet.
Discorama 10/1 NH - now 16/1
Uradel 16/1 CC - now 10/1
Monalee 8/1 Ryanair - now 9/1
Tiger Tap Tap 9/1 TH - now 14/1
Dallas De Picton 12/1 MP - now 8/1

I’ve lost my confidence in Tiger Tap Tap after his DRF run, he was out paced and smashed by the horses in front. Was that a bad day at the office and he can do better at Cheltenham or should I cash out and relay bet with a replacement for TTT???

He could step up but I thought he was a 2 miler after the weekend. He travelled really well into the straight and maybe got beat by inexperience. Probably one for NRNB.

I didn't think they tried too hard, and it'll get in the county easier off 136.
touch and go for M Pipe off that mark

Interesting I have him down for wanting a step up. And will improve for it. I could be wrong.
But yes deffinately nrnb.

Scooby, I am using part of my 8/1 winning on Dallas Des Pictons at the weekend, to recycle into the 16s and 14s for the Martin Pipe, so job done for me with following Gordy’s UK phantom Handicap entries to get marks. Like that he went in with the same two horse at Cheltenham Trials Day, and then again this Monday for Newbury Saturday Card. Seems clear that both Dallas Des Pictons and Eclair De Beaufue are his plans for Cheltenham handicaps. Both ran well, and are improving. Can see Dallas in this race taking the lead or close to, and hopefully helping the owners continue to pillage the race. Only quoted by 365 in the Pertemps, and at present not qualified with only 3 qualifiers left, I would be surprised if he were to put him out again, when he has the right mark for this race.
