Laurina also has options at Leopardstown at Cheltenham over the festive period.

“I have no immediate plan for her now, she is just not going to run at the weekend,” said Mullins.

“It’ll probably be Christmas now. She could run in the Christmas Hurdle at Kempton and she will be entered at Leopardstown.

“There is a race at Cheltenham on New Year’s Day (Relkeel) as well, but it’ll all depends on the weather.”

I'd put money on it being the Relkeel. Annie P went there.

Not if she beats a decent yardstick easily.
I'd think it would be unfair to put her in against BD first time at kempton, especially after he hammered Samcro.
And I'm assuming Melon is going to leopardstown, unless he sends melon to kempton and runs laurina in ireland, which I'd say is the second option.

I can't imagine anything of CH note would be in the Relkeel though?

If she wins over 2m4f, only gets 1 more run in (it'd need to be the Irish CH at the Dublin Festival for me to think she'll go CH).

I've backed her for the CH - but feel that's slipping away?

I agree it looks unlikely, but if she looks really good then it may still happen,
Looking at it another way. Unless Melon comes out and looks a better horse outside of Cheltenham then he has nothing else. aside from sharjah.
But he has other good mares for the Mares race.

And both races have a serious favourite lying in wait, so she'd face a tough task either way after two races ??
He ran four in the champion last year.
So I see no reason if the owners wnat to try and win the champion for them not to try.

Any injuries to BD and apples and it's all change.

Dozy willie confusing us both, I think he means the Dornan, not relkeel.

I'm confused.
Annie Power beat Zarkander in the Dornan engineering hurdle (grade 2) on new years day over 2m 4f in 2014.
But thats not the same race as the relkeel is it ? She's not down as a past winner of that,

Forget all that, Wikipedia not got annie's win listed for some reason.
same race

Zero chance she comes over to take on Buveur D'Air at Kempton. Can see her coming over for Cheltenham on New years day but the longer her delay goes the more likely it is she goes for the Mares. The ground clearly is having an effect and there's a stack of his horses that haven't run but she's been getting entries and being withdrawn which would worry me. Worst case she may even miss the festival if she's being withdrawn on good to soft ground.

Certainly appears a clear divide on his preference and the owner (on both her long term and short term targets) and the longer it takes for her to run and then take in the required level of races the more likely it is that Willie gets his way

Laurina might go to to Ascot next weekend...I think connections are keen to go there so all being well she'll go there

RP Stable Tour:

The owner is keen to go for the Champion Hurdle but it may be more realistic to aim her at the mares race at the Festival

If Laurina was confirmed for the mares at this stage would she be favourite over Apples Jade?

Before the Hatton's Grace i'd of said yes, now I don't think so. But there wouldn't be much in it at all - the fact that she is 5/1 in a Champion Hurdle shows she'd be very short.
There's not another mare who could have done what AJ did last time out

That's how I see it Jono. It could even be that going for the Mares isn't necessarily the easy option.

It would depend on her best trip wouldn't it. I think AJ is only a bigger price than BVD because Laurina is seen as more likely to win a mares race buy that may not have any substance to it.

I might put up a poll... BVD or AJ. Which is a better bet

If Willie doesn't think Laurina can run (and win) on good ground this weekend against lesser horses than BD then surely there is no chance she will rock up in this in March to face BD when the ground could be virtually the same. Unless he is hoping for a deluge of rain in March and keeps his options open until the decs the day before the race.

Not a case of whether he thinks she'd have won on Saturday. He doesn't want to start her on good ground, it's that simple and probably more to do with giving her an ideal preparation for the season.

SVB 5/2 tomorrow that price is wrong for me, I expect improvement but would be worried about him on that ground

Vision Des Flos is the value at 11/1 but for SB to be placing in this he should be slamming these

Trappy race. I was disappointed with VDF at Newcastle didn't travel or jump fluently. Usually a good jumper.
