Cheltenham Bumper 2019

My bumper history goes

Champagne Fever (win only)
Briar Hill (win only)
Shaneshill (each way)
Moon Racer (win only)
Battleford (33/1 £15 e/w would have been my biggest ever win at the time)

That was all with only backing one horse each time, honestly thought it was the easiest race of the festival
That quickly changed and I’ve ended up with a scatter gun approach as I invariably convince myself of every horse end up with atleast 5 and hit and miss as to whether i see profit or not

Those on @ big prices must feel sick reading that, you have my genuine sympathy if true.

Runs Envoi Allen instead... :disgust:

Malone Road being injured is the only basis I could have Envoi Allen turning up personally.

Hoping MR is OK though.

We've all cashed out 33/1 Envoi Allen. That would be a sickener.

My thoughts exactly. Hence why cash out is a dangerous game.

But yes, fingers crossed MR recovers and runs.

Letting all my bets where MR is in run but will look at putting a small one on EA just in case

Bookmakers removing Malone Road from the market, even though he is only a 'doubt' for Cheltenham.

Well now I’m completely lost on what to do...

Do I cash out my 33/1 ticket who is now favourite for the Bumper?

Or do i heed the chance he’s probably 50/50 best to even run?

The bumper is an awful race anyway :devilish:

I would have agreed with this for many year but a drunken lump on Moon Racer in 2015 followed by all of our group smashing into Relegate at 25/1 now means the bumper holds a special place in my heart

You still have a chance for a run for your money why cash out?

The only thing I'd say is that, by the sounds of things, this injury didn't just happen today. So, when Gordon said yesterday that EA won't go to Cheltenham, he said it in the full knowledge of MR's injury. It sounds like they've probably made a decision of EA skipping Cheltenham regardless.

That said, if I hadn't already cashed out I'd let it run for a bit longer pending further news in the coming weeks about MR's recovery.

That's what I was thinking. He must have known MR was injured when saying that yesterday and still confidently stated that Envoi Allen won't run.

I might cash out half my stakes which, at the revised prices, would result in a small net loss and leave a live ticket JIC.

I was a little sick yesterday when I missed the cash out however cashed out today. I agree with you Envoi Allen won't run. This does offer us a good opportunity, we know Willie targets this race, The horse that finished 4th yesterday Assemble was also well beaten when 2nd to Asterion Forlonge @ 33's e.w. it looks a steal and the same can be said for Shadow rider.

Still hope that MR runs obviously wether that's a forlorn hope I'm not sure.

Already got the JP mullins shadow rider 33s
And asterion forlonge. 33/1

Just put the profit from envoi allen on EL BARRA (ricci) I'm a big fan of robert tyners and he recommended this lad to Harold Kirk.

The top lot will now join the ranks at Willie Mullins' Closutton base after Harold Kirk set a May Sale record when going to £280,000 for El Barra, who finished runner-up to Fury Road in a Dromahane maiden under Derek O'Connor earlier in the month.

Kirk. "I really liked what he showed on debut and he came highly recommended. He looked classy and showed a lot of gears despite getting beaten - the winner got first run. I hope he's lucky."

Tyner
"He was recommended to us by Walter Connors' head man and once we'd seen him we had to have him," said Tyner. "He seems to have a lot of ability - and he knows it!

"We like to give them an educational run so we weren't disappointed when he finished second. We knew we had the best horse in the race. The winner of the race had experience and kicked entering the straight when we were still 30 lengths behind."
