Weekend Racing

Just the 5 entered, but what a 5!

Clan Des Obeaux for me at 25/1 ew. I anticipated it being a small field but not it being this classy. Anyone else going to it?

I'm making the journey up the M6 FM, first time to Haydock. Might Bite by 5+ lengthd

Excited for first visit to Haydock Saturday, great field for the Betfair, not a bad little card all round either. My heart will rule my head for this race as I am already on Native River (surely won't be a shock :highly_amused: ) and do think he is classier then he gets credit for, however realistically if good ground Might Bite could easily take it!

Looking forward to this. Not going myself but will be on the Might Bite train I suspect!

At Haydock tomorrow:

Clan Des Obeaux 25/1 ew
Vintage Clouds 4/1

Ascot:
Spider Bite 14/1
Gold Present 10/1.

Good luck all.

I'm at Haydock tomorrow :triumphant:

1:50
Admiral Barrarty 12/1 4 places
(although I heard Frank Hickey talking about Mr Antonelli as if its a good thing so may well have some on that!)

I had another ante post poke and that was Aux Ptit Soins but he isn't running in the 2:25 that First Assignment will probably win.

Vintage Clouds boasts form figures of 12222F32 at Haydock

3112 for Captain Redbeard

Vintage Clouds inclined to always find one too good?

Would seem that way Kev, let's hope not tomorrow :triumphant:

If anyone is at a loose end before the racing starts at Haydock, me and jono are going tomorrow and will be there by about 10:30am - I think he's setting off at 5am or something mental so not sure how much fun he'll be :highly_amused:

I've backed Hammersly Lake I know it's rating is inflated but 18/1 is just too big. Beat Charbel by over 5L giving it 5lbs and almost 5 x the price. The top 3 in the market are all too short.

Also backed Admiral Barrarty 12/1 antepost.

Have I missed something with Grand Sancy today? I make him more of a 4/6 fav than 6/4.

If something's too good to be true......

I thought that at first BUT

Black Key higher OR.

Same RPR.

Vastly superior Speed Figure (ATR).

Has wins on good ground.

Form of his handicap wins in Ireland have been franked (including by Storm Rising who won at the Cheltenham October meeting).

He's a prominent ride so I expect B.Hughes to be able to manage to keep the race simple.

No issue with the trainer first time out.

Nicholls has had 3 short priced faves beaten in recent years (13/8 - 3rd Dynamite Dollars 2017, even 2nd Capitaine 2016, even 3rd The Brock Again 2014)

Danny mcmenamin taking of 7lb.

Ok so on Friday morning I picked out Charbel, thought he was overpriced at 4s. Then I looked into it a bit more in depth, and HAMMERSLY LAKE 18/1 Is massive! Ok Politoligue is a very talented horse, won at Aintree, Timgle creek to name a few, probably will win and favourite rightly so, but 6/5? Nah too short for me! So HL beat Charbel giving weight. Has won with the going (Which dont think we know what politolugue is like) If was being picky, would be the jockey, nothing against Sean its just would prefer someone who would be familar with and had a W with! But yeah 18/1 too good not too!

Anyone any obvious reasons which are maybe staring me right in the face why it is such a big price?

Good Luck today everyone!

Charbel made a mistake and lost momentum 4 out. Charbel is a better horse and most will expect the form to be reversed but the price disparity is too big.

Could be a messy race with no obvious pace. Couldn't have Benatar. Politilogue should win.
