        1 Raz De Maree (FR)
        2 Bundle Of Fun (IRE)
        3 Zardsky (IRE)

        Timeform view

Raz De Maree has progressed on each outing over fences so far and is likely to relish this sort of test. He gets the vote ahead of Bundle of Fun, another probable improver at the trip, while Zardsky caught the eye whe second at Galway last week and appeals as the best of those at bigger odds.

1 Tharawaat (IRE) 204 130778 7 11-10(139) tcp Davy Russell Gordon Elliott, Ireland

Back to his best when winning at Galway (2¾m) this time last year, but didn't show a lot subsequently until finishing a respectable eighth in Grand National in April.

        2 Berties Dream (IRE) 41 2151P-2 9 11-6(135) cp A. E. Lynch Henry de Bromhead, Ireland

Useful hurdler/chaser who won maiden chase in January and minor hurdle in April, both at Thurles. Not disgraced when second in minor chase at Ballinrobe on return and likely to come on for that.

3 Cross Appeal (IRE) 21 331P-4P 6 11-5(134) Paul Carberry Noel Meade, Ireland

Quickly reached same level over fences as hurdles, improving when landing Paddy Power Chase at Leopardstown in December. Has only completed once in 3 outings since, though, so questions to answer.

        4 Raz De Maree (FR) 21 061521C1 7 11-3(132) Bryan J. Cooper D. T. Hughes, Ireland

Scored twice over hurdles at up to 3m. Opened account over fences at Wexford (25f) in July and improved on that when landing Munster National (3m) last month, finishing strongly. Progressive.

5 Golden Kite (IRE) 21 8U40-16C1 10 10-12(127) Barry Geraghty Adrian Maguire, Ireland

Much improved over fences in 2010, landing Munster National. More miss than hit since, but won over hurdles in September and creditable sixth in this year's renewal of former race since.

        6 The Bishop Looney (IRE) 21 0F1P-47C3 D1 CD1 8 10-12(127) S. G. McDermott T. J. Nagle Jnr, Ireland

Better than ever last term, winning 3 times, including in this corresponding event. Below par after 5 months off in Munster National recently, but likely to make bold bid to retain this crown.

        7 A New Story (IRE) 63 02-6U0coC1 D1 CD1 14 10-8(123) Miss J. M. Mangan (7)M. Hourigan, Ireland

Cracking head second in quite valuable cross-country handicap at Cheltenham Festival final start last term, but not as good since and difficult to be positive about at present.

        8 For A Finish 21 23B5-05C1 9 10-7(122) cp Alain Cawley Eoin Doyle, Ireland

Won minor event here (3m) last year. Better for reappearance when fifth in Munster National last month and one to keep an eye on.

        9 Total Submission 35 7-P31-72 7 10-5(120) tcp T. J. Doyle J. Culloty, Ireland

Better than ever when winning handicap hurdle at Wetherby on final start for Martin Keighley in February and similar form when second in 3m novice chase at Clonmel in September. Respected.

        10 Droim Toll (IRE) 146 F847-19 10 10-4(119) Paul Townend D. Hassett, Ireland

Hold-up chaser who is difficult to catch right, but scored over fences at Punchestown in May (3½m). Not so good the following month and tough task in this company.

        11 Zardsky (IRE) 6 215P-02 6 10-3(118) A. P. Heskin T. J. Nagle Jnr, Ireland

Point winner who created good impression when beating Agus A Vic in hunter chase at Fairyhouse in February. Off 5 months, shaped well when second in handicap at Galway last week and still unexposed.

        12 Bundle Of Fun (IRE) 29 229P11 9 10-2(117) R. Walsh W. P. Mullins, Ireland

Hit and miss earlier this season, but won maiden chase at Downpatrick and Gowran handicap on last 2 starts. Raised 8 lb for latter success, but folly to dismiss with step up to 3½m likely to suit.

        13 Give Us A Hand (IRE) 12 323527 10 10-1(116) Davy Condon J. A. Berry, Ireland

Fairly useful chaser who ran well when second to Bundle of Fun at Gowran (3m) last month. Failed to exploit much lower hurdles mark since, but likely to return to form back over fences.

        14 Bangonform (IRE) 23 P14B21 8 9-12(113) Niall Madden D. E. Fitzgerald, Ireland

Fair hurdler/chaser who has scored twice at Tramore this season, easily landing 12-runner handicap chase last month. 12 lb higher now, but respected for yard with good record in this race.

        15 Good Luck Chuck (IRE) 6 41-P126 8 9-11(112) tb M. A. Enright (5)David Martin Kelly, Ireland

Winning hurdler who has improved over fences this year, scoring at Wexford in April and Tipperary in July. Decent effort when runner-up at Roscommon next time, but folded tamely at Galway since.

        16 Outlaw Pete (IRE) 23 42U1-05 8 9-10(111) A. P. Crowe John Halley, Ireland

Fair form in cross-country races for Enda Bolger and stepped up on those efforts when winning banks event at Punchestown in April. Better for reappearance when fifth behind Bangonform last time.

        17 Ardglen (IRE) 358 111238/ 8 9-10(111) cp D. E. Mullins John Joseph Hanlon, Ireland

Not the most fluent of jumpers, but didn't stop him racking up a hat-trick within a week 14 months ago. Good placed efforts next 2 starts, but was well held on Flat debut in August.

        18 Ballygill Gale (IRE) 12 552112 8 9-10(111) Philip Enright V. T. O'Brien, Ireland

Bagged 2¾m chase at Galway in September and cashed in on lower hurdles mark when following up at Roscommon 5 weeks later. Has ran well since when second at Fairyhouse (3m) over timber.

Think I will go for Bishop Looney

Raz De Maree will bid to add to his recent Munster National success in tomorrow's Paddy Power-sponsored Cork equivalent for the Dessie Hughes stable.

While he cannot be discounted off a 9lb higher mark under Bryan Cooper, the resultant 11st 3lb is plenty of weight to have to carry over three and a half miles. Bundle Of Fun, which represents Willie Mullins and Ruby Walsh and gets in off 10st 2lb, is one of the 17 others that has more appeal.

However, at nine years of age and on his 21st chasing start, he doesn't have limitless scope either. Berties Dream is one that could show up well under a big weight for Henry de Bromhead and Andrew Lynch, while Tom Doyle deserts last year's winner The Bishop Looney for Jim Culloty's Total Submission.

The horse with most appeal, though, is The Bishop Looney's six-year-old TJ Nagle-trained stablemate Zardsky.

Zardsky comes here after just four starts over fences, having warmed up for this with a staying-on second to Selection Box at Galway on Monday.

Zardsky has now won and been second twice from his quartet of chasing runs so, knowing his shrewd local handler has already plundered this €32,500 prize twice already, he strikes as one to keep on side. With the excellent Adrian Heskin up, he demands the nap vote.

Bang on form probably laid out for this so my pick ( even though pricewise has blown the price)

RAZ DE MAREE (nap) looks very much the one to beat on the back of his easy Munster National win, form on which he holds four of these. Perhaps his racing style is deceptive but it is hard to see him not getting this trip, which is usually the big question for many in this unique early-season handicap. Berties Dream might do next best. [Johnny Ward]
