                        1.45

SIMONSIG will be very hard to beat as he bids to complete a Cheltenham-Aintree double.

The grey smashed up his rivals in the Neptune Investment Management Novices’ Hurdle at last month’s Festival, coming home by seven lengths, and, if he gets anywhere near that form, should go in again.

Super Duty and Aland Islands are the best of the rest.

                        2.15

SPRINTER SACRE will go off at very short odds but is impossible to oppose.

Unbeaten in four outings over fences, Nicky Henderson’s six-year-old was the most impressive winner of the Cheltenham Festival, winning the Arkle Trophy by seven lengths, and is a star of the future.

Lucklessly brought down in the Grand Annual Chase at Cheltenham, Toubab looks the one for the forecast.

                        2.50

ROCK ON RUBY, the Champion Hurdle winner, has plenty going for him.

Noel Fehily’s mount surged up the hill for the two mile crown – and the extra four furlongs here will prove in his favour.

Stablemate Zarkandar and Oscar Whisky are the main dangers.

                        3.25

ON BORROWED WINGS ran a cracker in a race that broke the course record at Newbury last time, and should give a good account.

The David Arbuthnot 10-year-old scored in a lesser race at Fakenham before his third in Royal Berkshire to a winner, Ikorodu Road, who continues to go from strength to strength.

Chapoturgeon ran a fine race in the Foxhunter Chase at Cheltenham and can make the podium, along with Brackloon High.

                        4.15

Northern Irish challenger KILLYGLEN is set for a change of luck in the world’s greatest steeplechase after an unlucky late exit 12 months ago.

Trained in Larne, Co Antrim, by Stuart Crawford, the 10-year-old looked sure to be involved when coming to grief at the fourth fence from the finish.

My selection showed the benefit of a breathing operation to score with ease in the Daily Mirror Chase at Down Royal last month – and glory awaits.

                        5.05

KAZLIAN, who did well to make the frame in the Fred Winter Hurdle at Cheltenham, has solid claims in a wide-open event.

The David Pipe juvenile was given an aggressive ride before finishing fourth to shock winner Une Artiste, and Aintree’s layout looks tailormade for Tom Scudamore’s mount.

Constant Contact is attractively weighted on his handicap debut and can figure, along with Idarah.

                        5.35

POPULATION could scarcely have made a better start to his career and is taken to remain unbeaten.

Making his debut at Ascot in October, the chestnut, trained by Sheikh Mohammed’s bloodstock advisor, John Ferguson, scooted in by six lengths.

He followed up when favourite for a bumper back at the Royal venue the following month, and, off the track since, is reported to have thrived in the build-up to the biggest test of his career so far.

Spirit Of Shankly is sure to be popular and is a definite player, while Howaboutnow also has claims of a medal.

BET OF THE DAY: Red Rocco (1.50 Bangor) showed an admirable attitude when winning in a fast time at Ayr and looks a cut above these rivals.

Next Best: Lidar (2.15 Ayr) left his earlier disappointing efforts well behind when fitted with blinkers for the first time and a repeat of that effort would be enough to see him home here.
