It's right handed he will probably win by 15 lengths on the snaff

I'd be much more intrigued if he was running left handed

He just needs to complete to win that race with ease

Monkfish’s debut was brilliant, GDC too. But then so was ADV’s
Haha, the hyperbole will be in full force despite him being worse than Monkfish IMO over hurdles.

Monkfish's chase debut was better than Galopin Des Champs wasn't it, I don't remember GDC's though would need to watch it back

Monkfish's was the best since Sprinter Sacre's

Then again, the best hurdling debut I've seen was by Lough Derg Spirit jono -

I was hoping he would do exactly what he did at Naas on Sunday. He'll go up in trip now and he looks a proper Brown Advisory horse in my eyes. He was probably a shade disappointing last season given what he shows me at home, but I think chasing will bring out the best in him. He's a stayer.

Crazy to think Peddlers Cross went off fav against him next time out after that debut.

Galopin des champs way more impressive than monkfish imo, won by 20 something lengths, monkfish won easy as you like but was only a few lengths I think

Mentioned that earlier. Best novice chase debut for a stayer in my opinion over the last decade. Galopins was obviously great but Monkfish was an absolute natural.

Gaelic isn't of interest to me at the moment due to the right handed jumping. If he's straighter over fences then I'd consider him.

              • Extremely subjective but, for what it's worth, the RPRs for their respective chasing debuts are
                148 Monkfish https://www.racingpost.com/profile/h.../monkfish/form
                !63 Galopin Des Champs https://www.racingpost.com/profile/h...es-champs/form

Lovely. Hugely intriguing that he’s put up Indiana Dream as his Dar Horse too. Another one for staying novice chases

                  • Willie looking to have 6 BANC runners at this rate

Those mentioned for the race or described as a stayer.

                    Gaelic Warrior
                    Fact To File
                    Grangeclare West
                    Spanish Harlem
                    Nick Rockett
                    Minella Cocooner

I see Minella Cocooner as the NH Chase horse which I've said before, but even so, take your pick from the other 5. You can also potentially add Indiana Dream into the list too.

The big thing that stands out for me is that he's skipping novice hurdling with Fact To File despite the amount of ammunition he already has for the staying novice Chase division.

Probability would say at least 2 of the 6 wont end up there, either through injury or just not being good enough (imo) But he had 5 in the race last year. And he’s only getting stronger in numbers year on year.

Gut feeling is Fact to File goes Turners.
Willie loves him. And has done since day one.
                        he could be special.
Could be a force at either trip.
I think he’s the only horse I’ve backed any race
                        and most likely will.
I think you have to had him onside, one way or the other.

The fact you have him for any race means the stable tour quote is probably of little relevance, but:

"He's a beautiful horse. He's an armchair. He's got the temperament, he's got everything. I think he'll be at the top end of the staying novice chasers. We had a choice with him last season whether to go novice hurdling or stay in bumpers. We elected to stay in bumpers, but we said if we did that, we'd go straight over fences with him this season as he looks a real chaser. I think he’ll be right up with the best of my staying novice chasers."

For me, it all points to the BANC, rather than the Turners though. I only have him backed for the BANC, and won't change my mind based on that most recent quote.

Like you though, I do really like him. I was really taken with his p2p performance initally.

Over hurdles, staying novice is Ballymore or Albert Bartlett though

                            And ...

He ran Gold Cup winner, Galloping Des Champs, over the intermediate trip too

When he says "staying novice chaser", it only rules out Arkle

                            • GW and F2F the 2 to concentrate on for me from all the 'staying' ones, GW is the 3m horse they always thought he needed further than the 2 4 even pre festival last year, I'd imagine F2F at middle distances.

Long season though and no doubt injuries and flops along the way...

I disagree about the Ballymore, whilst it technically is over 2m5f, it is generally won by horses with a turn of foot and they end up as Champion Hurdle horses. Not sure many Ballymore winners have ended up in the BANC the season after? Yorkhill won a Turners, but ended up in the Champion Hurdle the following season, Bob Olinger was majorly fortunate to have won both. Anyway, it's all irrelevant regarding Fact To File, he is skipping novice hurdles, but just as a side note, he was favourite for the Bartlett before it was made public knowledge that he was going chasing. Again, probably little relevance but the Bartlett would lend itself to going to the BANC the season after, generally, if going novice chasing.

Galopin Des Champs is a completely different proposition to Fact To File. Won a French Hurdles race over 2m2f, and showed plenty of pace, Fact To File won a p2p and won a bumper over 2m4f going away at the finish.

I'm personally ruling out the Turners for Fact To File, and I'll probably come back to this, head in hands, the moment he is declared for the race But his p2p, his bumper debut over 2m4f going away at the finish, added to his breeding, and Willie's recent quotes, has all led me down the path of believing he is a BANC horse.
