As I am not normally too interested in shorties as single bets, I’ve suggested a few LAYS.
I also favour Hurdles as the main betting medium for Naps and Each Way
* usually less Fallers, Pulled Up, UR’s and BD’s
* definitely less obstacles per comparable race distances
* leads to less hard luck stories in running (hopefully)
NAP
MAXXUM - Pertemps Hurdle Final - if running here off less than 150
Reserve:
SALVADOR ZIGGY - Pertemps Hurdle Final
Maxxum is the NAP if he runs in the Pertemps Final off less than 150.
With the high RPR for Maxxum pointing towards a high tax hike by the GB capper, then I would nominate Gordon’s original plan for the Pertemps, Salvador Ziggy, as a worthy stand in for Maxxum - if that ends up being the end game.
EACH WAY
MAXXUM - Stayers Hurdle - if diverting here from Pertemps
Reserve:
FAVORI DU CHAMPDOU - Albert Bartlett Novice Hurdle
If Maxxum diverts from the Pertemps to the Stayers Hurdle, then he would be an extremely interesting runner in that Grade 1.
If he stayed on Plan A and went for the Pertemps, then my choice would be Favori Du Champdou in the Albert Bartlett.
He is relishing 3M Novice Hurdles and represents plenty of place value against those at the top of the market, given his form is at least as strong at this point, he’s built up some experience in quick time, and improving markedly for it.
LAY
LUCCIA - Mares Novice Hurdle - plenty of opposition with similar or higher RPR’s , and now she’s absent at weekend.
HERMES ALLEN - Ballymore - another off the Challow production line that hasn’t beaten a decent horse yet. The Irish will have form hardened against quality opposition
ALLAHO - Ryanair - for obvious reasons, though WPM could control the quality of opposition if he does turn up.
I tend to look for plenty of options to beat shorties and could pick several here, so I have put three that I wouldn’t touch at the prices, as Singles, or in Multi’s, and who may end up having some decent opposition
(even though I have backed one of these, I would now lay at their new shorter price)
