Hello Fat Jockeys,

He was amazing, but not the elite.. he mopped up on Sports day in the teachers versus students race obviously... that's like winning the Ryanair

The Envoi Allen example sums it up for me.... the fact you want him to win the Ryanair and put in a 180+ performance rather than try a Gold Cup makes me feel like I want to cry.
Aha I think we can agree that the Ryanair is at least slightly better than sports day... unless you get a shiny ribbon

Oh I would be absolutely gutted if he turned out to be a Ryanair horse, don't get me wrong.

I was typing out a counter argument and I've just decided you've used my own example to convince me... fucks sake

If in your wildest dreams you're winning a Ryanair rather than a Gold Cup or QMCC let's hope you never get to own a top class horse

Let's hope the Fat Jockey syndicate horse ends up looking best over the intermediate trip - that will be fun!

Fair play to you though mate, there isn't a right or wrong... I'm flapping my gums about it because I am passionate about it but appreciate it isn't fact at all

But a racecourse that has undergone major redevelopment and can host 70,000 paying punters will always market the week as a kind of champions week when in reality missing the race because conditions don’t suit is the right move...
Cheltenham being the pinnacle is cool and being a good thing, but everything's become so focused on it, it grows the temptation to dilute the festival and makes everything else less important- which is bad news for a sport that is really struggling to maintain relevance.

Its about the whole ecosystem. Hence my initial point about someone being annoyed at Nicholls going for the Aintree hurdle.

Take football for eg as a parallel. Chertsey Town winning the FA vase is a big deal for the players and their fans, and isn't diminished because France won the world Cup. They just have their big moment somewhere other than the world Cup. Still a big deal for their level and what they're good at.

But likewise would be a bad idea to amend the world Cup to ensure Chertsey Town's participation

PTKO, Notebook and Chacun Pour Soi probably the next biggest clash we've had... which was great too, but was only there become Henry De Bromhead is a bit of a ledge.
It's the only sport on the planet where you can avoid the best competion.

The only answer is to do away with these nothing races.

The likes of the Ryanair, Mares Hurdle and now the Mares Chase basically need to be fucked off to reduce the options at the festival.

Would you rather see the decider in the QMCC or Ryanair?

Politilogue to take on Min in the Ryanair

              Or

Min to take on Politilogue in the QMCC?

I don’t know, boxing does a pretty good job with avoiding clashes.

Yeah, I think we have to appreciate that'll never happen now, so my thoughts would be make them a Grade 2.... then they have to acknowledge what they're doing... then people can either like or dislike it but at least it's having to be considered and cretes a bit of a decision.

At the moment you can duck clashes and win Grade 1's - that should simply not be the case.

I tell you what, winning a shiny ribbon is hard to beat...and genuinely I did win the 100m and 5000m in my sports day in year 11 sports day - I lost the 10,000m though, this lad called Phil sprinted off at the start and I just ignored him assuming he'd gone too hard.... after I couldn't reel him in, I later found out he used to 'warm up' for Cricket by running 10k!!!!!!!!!! (Think he got to semi prio level at least) - So under the radar, absolutely walloped me. Owns his own business now, roofing. I won't use him even if my roof caves in as I'm still annoyed, but I respect him. Glad he'll never read this.

If all potential QMCC horses are fit and well, Min and Politologue are battling each other for what...3rd place?

I’d like the decider to be at Aintree in the Melling

Well that'd make the QMCC fantastic if a couple of dual Grade 1 winners were only good enough for 3rd and 4th, so bring that on.

The Melling would be won by Min - a small defeat and a 20L win..... he'll win easily, again.

                        First year was a joke

I like that and feel it should be a Kevin Blake type article at some point.

The sports day grudges you touched on I can relate to,we only did events up to 1500M(did you go to some elite sports based school with 10ks on sports day ?).

Anyway everyone used to get assigned an event and I got the 1500m in the first year purely as I was the slimmest I think. Come the day they said the girls/lads from the first two years all were to run it at once to save time. A girl in my class set off with another lad(turned out to be her bro in the year above) and they set off like rockets I went off in pursuit with the rest 30 yards back and prob going 7 wide on the bend with 20+ runners lol. After three laps I’m blowing massively miles clear of the rest and about 20 yards behind the lass in my class, reduce in down to 10 come the line. Absolutely gutted I’ve come 3rd and beaten by a lass, turns out her, the bro and the family all did/went on to feral run for England. In hindsight it was like a horse out the weights running against two blots.

Could have been 800m and 1500m of reflection

                            Point still stands though.

You were done, I bet the people in the know had the money on. A coup!

I agree though, I completely agree.
I certainly agree that the best horses should be pitted against each other and people want to see how good they are.

I disagree with the stayers being a joke of a race... the trainers actions are making it annoying as they are avoiding going chasing just because they don’t think they will win in the long distance chases but not all horses are as good chasers as hurdlers with some simply better in one discipline. I think it would be awful to crab a horse if they purely can only hurdle and their best at long distances.
