  • I was massively disappointed with Samcro at Down Royal on his seasonal debut. I expected him to win and I don't consider the 2 that beat him that day (Battleoverdoyen and Easy Game) to really have much of a say in the Ryanair / at the Festival.

It was the first really disappointing run over fences he has produced for me. As last year he was doubted but looked the winner against Fakir D'oudairies and in hindsight Faugheen, on heavy at Limerick probably would have beaten anyone in that division that day (granted I had backed Samcro)

And the Savills chase wasn't great either, although that for me has less bearing in regards to the Ryanair (obviously)

Was he 10/1 at the start of the season?

He hasn't enhanced his claims at all for me. And I would have liked a bigger price than 16's really. 20's and I would have gone in for sure.
I'm sure I will back him, I keep hoping for that bigger price. I'm sure it probably won't come now. As even if he's not shown much through the winter, he's impossible to ignore given his record.

I'd still have him shorter odds than Allaho in the race.
Min, Saint Calvados and Melon in front of him in the betting is fully justified.
With Imperial Aura slightly questionable for me (deserves to be in the mix and a player but too short at the prices)

I don't see this as muggy at all MB, a solid trading strategy...

I was too Jono but from what I remember I am sure he made a mistake 3 out at a crucial stage when they got racing which put paid to his chances so I wasn't too disheartened when I watched it back. His run recently was a shocker though however you can't knock his festival form. I think Gordy had said at the beginning of the season that he will go Ryan air but we know he doesn't call the shots with giggy horses. Given that the Ryan air I usually a small field and samcro's festival form I can't seem him being bigger than 10/1 on the day should he turn up, maybe I am just being biased as I have backed him at 12's

        • They mothered Samcro like crazy last year to get him right for one race, remember all the talk of the specially built stable for him with the works... You'd wonder after redeeming himself by winning the Marsh they're just going to let the horse do his thing for the rest of his career without any major special treatment. Envoi is the golden ticket for Gordon now and O'Leary has already confirmed he is winding down things at Giggies. Is O'Leary going to end up selling more of his horses? Surely Samcro would fetch most money.

Samcro is still my favourite horse in training but I couldn't back him right now.

            • Cheers FF, Will be hoping for another good run from Mr F, hes my fancy for the Ryanair. I was hoping that Itchy Feet would prove up to it having taken 40 at start of season,,but hes decided he dont want to jump a fence very well thus far this season, and now 50!! Not given up on him as that could be ironed out, but not holding out a lot of hope there.to be honest, I do have a lot of hope re Mr F though....underrated i think and a nice price if you like him.
Master t is fascinating , huge talent on his day, the kind i like on my side as the odds may be bigger than his talent justifies.

                • At a speed track on what will likely be decent ground i think mister fisher will take plenty of beating

Id say those are his ideal conditions

I'm not a backer of Mr Fisher, BUT if the Irish don't come over (which you seem certain of), he certainly has a better chance than you are giving him?

                                Which will actually show up?
They have to line up to have a chance of finishing 5 lengths clear.
