  • Am I right in thinking the total matched is double what has been staked? So the £1k matched on the mares actually equates to £500 of bets placed.

    • What race do we see Cracking Smart going for?

        RSA most likely for me.
        4 Miler an obvious option.

Can't see him going any shorter whatsoever on the basis he looked more of a stayer than Next Destination when they ran and ND proved to me he wanted 3m

I'm not sure I follow FM?

As far as I am aware if it was £1k matched then that's how much has been staked on the 'back' side of things!

You would assume the RSA, however this is Gigginstown, so I am not ruling out the JLT at all.

Super post, will have a better look at it later on. I love these kinds of statistics. I'll do the +/- profit and loss at level stakes again at some point
Kev solely looking at those races and not including the 2018 horses as they obviously can't have won a subsequent race yet, 85 which breaks down as follows.

It never used to be, found this from a Betfair blog last year:
Volume matched is one of the most simple figures to understand in trading. There are no fancy calculations involved here!

It is simply the amount of money that has been matched on the Exchange in any particular market. You'll see it on the top-right hand side of a market page on the Exchange website.

If you're using third-party software to trade on the Exchange, you can usually find it just above the trading ladders. If you can't see it immediately, take a look at the manual for your software of choice and you should be able to bring it into view quite easily.

When a market has just been opened there will naturally be £0 matched. This is just because nobody has had a chance to place any bets yet.

If I place a £10 back bet at odds of 2.00, it will enter the market unmatched. If the price is right, another market participant may choose to match by bet with a £10 lay bet.

Now, both of our bets have been matched. This now means the total volume matched in the market is £20.
It's just something to be aware of when looking at those markets.

Also if the odds on Betfair exchange if the odds backed on the exchange initially was £10 @ 8/1 , when this is then matched at the A’s a lay then the other person would be stumping up the £80 to win the £10 so total staked/ matched is £90.

I use Betfair exchange very extensively (I don’t really have any bookmakers left to use) and this has always been my understanding of the exchange and values on the market

                      • I think there was some confusion a while back regarding the juvenile Never Adapt and who she was in training with. She's definitely gone to Henderson and is entered next Friday in a listed juvenile Hurdle at Wetherby. There was an article saying she'd gone to Mullins but at least she's gone to the best home for juveniles so nothing lost if you hold any tickets.

Forthcoming race entries for Never Adapt. Includes date entered, race time and latest betting odds.

Thanks for that, she'll deffinately get a proper test at this stage if she does go there , cracker factory, quel destin and Gordon's horse are all nice types, and theres winners everywhere.
If they're declared and she wins that, she'll be 10/1 max.

                            • I’m on Samcro at 8/1 and 7/1 for the Champion Hurdle. Seen today he will be entered for the 2m hurdle and 2m 3f beginners chase on Friday at Down Royal. Would you say that if he goes chasing that rules out the Arkle with him starting over that distance or that it doesn’t give any clues as to where he may run at Cheltenham?

I’m trying to make sure that if I have to make quick decisions (my CH bets are with bet365 all bar one so could cash out for profit) that I can be quick enough to get a good price on the likely chase target.

I don't get it, why would he be entered for a hurdle and a chase? They want to decide on Wednesday night his plan for the season, seems really odd unless I am missing something?
