I'm just on chat with them, my guess is I'll a standard response that says it was a 'trading decision'

'It looks like your account has been restricted on the sportsbook so you're not able to place large stakes there anymore, however you can still use the exchange without any restrictions'
'You can complain by sending an e-mail to escalations@betfair.com'
I've sent a pointless e-mail and will get a standard response.
I'm really surprised no-one has picked up on this practice and made industry scapegoats of firms who do this.
I've asked for my account P&L and a detailed explanation why I'm restricted, I'd love to be a loser and still restricted, that's the sort of thing some pundits will jump all over, I think once I've had a response I'll write to the Racing Post, as you say a week before Cheltenham is incredible timing

The bet I tried to place was £25 e/w FFS !
I will update when I get a response but my ranting has hijacked this thread for long enough !

Yeah I get that LR, but I don't have regular fixed odds accounts anymore, had these issues with all of them over the years so I now bet with exchange or through my spread betting company who lay fixed odds bets too. it's not a problem I'll have again 'cos I'll never open up another account, there's just no point.
I now have B365 and hope to get one or two yankees on there, failing that I'll do a couple of shop visits as advised earlier.
The point about my account restrictions is that it was put in place after I had two decent winners on Saturday (Sametegal and Shotovodka), strange that any bookie would want to restrict someone a week before Cheltenham when the chances are they'd get it all back with interest !

I understand your frustration with the timing of the restriction but your exchange betting is not effected by this. Your sportsbook activity has been restricted, this was a business decision made by our trading team who are under no obligation to explain their reasons I'm afraid.
Your exchange betting will never be restricted in any way due to it being a 'player-to-player' market. I do apologise for any inconvenience caused by your sportsbook restriction but the decision is final.
Gotta love a helpful customer services team eh ?

I am seriously tempted to contact the Post to see if there's any appetite there to launch a campaign....

The best way is to allow everyone to name and shame the bookies themselves in public via web. FJ can also benefit from this with all new customer sign ups by using their affiliate codes.

There was a guy complaining on the atr phone in last night about his bets being restricted and Matt Chapman just shrugged his shoulders and said they are running a business, you can't expect them to happily accept losses, I thinkthe RP would take a similar view, at the end of the day all these guys feed from the same trough
