Been awol for a few. Has ballyburn been confirmed as going hurdling ?

‘Ballyburn didn‘t really seem to enjoy his time over fences last season and the plan is to send him back hurdling with the Stayers’ Hurdle as his long-term aim. We brought him back in early and did a lot of groundwork with him to get him good and strong. He can of course go back over fences if we want to do that, but hurdling is what is on our minds for him for now.’

Stable Tour thread is up and running, already a fair bit in there re Mullins.

Ah brilliant thank you. I’m still getting used to the new layout 😁

…..Olly Murphy re Strong Leader;

‘He will probably go to Wetherby at the end of the month for the Great Yorkshire Hurdle. He is in very good form, and I think we will stick to flat tracks with them and there should be plenty of prize money to be won.’

….Gordon Elliott;

Teahupoo;
‘We’d like to start him off in the Hatton’s Grace Hurdle at Fairyhouse, but we’d want plenty of rain to do that and going over for the Ascot Hurdle instead is an option. The ground wasn’t soft enough for him at Fairyhouse last year, and we won’t run if that is the case this year. We’ve been giving him big gaps in between his runs for the last couple of years, but we might keep him a little busier this time around.’

The Yellow Clay;
‘We’ve decided to keep him over hurdles. There is a Listed hurdle for him at Down Royal or he could go to the Boyne Hurdle instead. I could see us stepping up to three miles with him sooner rather the later, maybe at Leopardstown’s Christmas meeting.’

….HDB

Bob O;
‘He’s in great form. We aren’t in a rush with him and will aim to get him back on the track around Christmas time. He has options at Ascot, Leopardstown and Cheltenham, so we’ll pick our spot closer to the time. He’s getting older, so we’ll pick our spots race to race with him, but if all goes well, I’d imagine it will be one run and then back to the Stayers’ Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival.’

Hiddenvalley Lake;
‘He seems to be in great order and worked well the other day. We will look to get him started around Christmas time either at Leopardstown or the Long Walk Hurdle at Ascot in which he just got touched off in last year. We won’t think too far ahead with him as there is a lot of water to go under the bridge before then, but he has gone very well at Aintree having not run at Cheltenham in each of the last two years.’

JDV OFS is a massive blow to my early position

With JDV ofs im happy to take 5s on teahupoo

Not a big bet at this stage more as a placeholder to build from once we see the contenders start to emerge

Dont like ballyburn but am interested to see the likes of jimmy du seiul, yellow clay etc

Theres surely going to be an improver somewhere

….we may not be seeing JDS here;

JIMMY DU SEUIL

He’ll go novice chasing. He’s a horse that likes Cheltenham as he was second to Ballyburn in a Grade 1 as a novice and won the Coral Cup on his only start last season. He’s all stamina and will be in the staying division.

Thought that would likely be the case as willie does send 95% of them chasing

Itll be interesting to see how ballyburn goes. Id imagine this season will be all or nothing for him. Hes either going to be the stand out horse in the division or not win a race.

Il be swerving him personally far too many doubts for the price he is

….well done to whoever mentioned Jimmy de Seuil for BANC @ 40-1 given he’s now as low as 14-1.

Seems to me that ballyburn is a different league to these lot over hurdles ? Anyone else agree or disagree ? 5/1 looks very big

Yip, he falls into the 'happy to see him run first' category now. Backed Teahupoo at 6/1 and The Yellow Clay at 14/1 but no way on Ballyburn at that price. I know it sounds daft, but just watched the stable tour, and even in his box he looked unhappy, pressed up against the wall and not interested in anything.

Potters Charm at a big price if he stays over hurdles.

If he bolts up over a staying trip first time then we'll all be saying 5/1 was a good price. That's how it works.
I fully understand though why punters would not want to get involved as he didn't give anyone any confidence last season.
