2026 Novice Hurdlers

Happy enough with that from Gillespie.
They went no pace at all then sprinted for home.
Looked after by Harry once the race had gone and stayed on one-paced

Will be better over further and on a slower surface and will come on a bundle, fitness wise.

But I don't think he'll be challenging for anything next March... 😆

…..market certainly knew the Thomas horse was decent and ready to run today.

Just watched the PP thing on YouTube, once again Doctor Du Mesnil mentioned as a stayer, Patrick saying potentially a Bartlett type.

I know he talks some waffle some times, but I, personally, can't be having a Doctor Dino novice over 3m for the festival.

Majority of Doctor Dino's best ones are minimum trip horses anyway, with some at the intermediate range. The odd one or two have branched out further with age, but that can generally happen to a lot of horses as time catches up with them.

I wonder if they are trying to convince the owners of a Turners bid with a view to a Champion Hurdle in the future if proving good enough, and if they say it enough in the media then it must look genuine to the owners!

I remember reading something weeks ago where the horse doesn't do a thing at home so has to be difficult to assess, he clearly has ability but the horse won't be making it easy for connections to figure him out, could be a case of the horse making fools of them...

Yeah Patrick mentioned about him not being flashy at home. It does make it difficult for sure.

If they're talking about a 3m race for a novice hurdler,be assured that novice is slow.

It was only Patrick that mentioned the Bartlett.

Willie, obviously, wouldn't even think about discussing actual targets yet.

Sober Glory looks very exciting.

I thought this initially, but his only rival (based on the market) never wanted to get close.

That said, he can only beat what's in front of him.

Kadastral next time out 👀
Skelton has ridden three seconds so far today and not picked his stick up once. There's gentle and there's tender, and then there's spaghetti arms 😋.

Worth remembering Patrick said this and repeated similar quotes on a couple of occasions in the autumn of 2020
I'd be fairly sure he said similar with regards Ballyburn also, in the early stages.

"Appreciate It will probably step up in trip and be more of a Neptune/Albert Bartlett type, while Ferny Hollow is probably a Supreme horse, or Neptune, depending on how he goes.”

He said Kopek was a stayer in a preseason Sportinglife piece too.

In truth they won’t know until they hit the racetrack. Plenty of horses don’t show a lot at home.

The one in the 2 o'clock doubled in price on BF near the off, wanted dragging in for the finishing effort.
Stuck in the tracker (y)

Well Willie did say he looks more of a stayer on his homework in the SL tour, and they found him a 2m3f bumper to kick off in,but maybe 2m will be his trip after all,we'll see.

Sober Glory appears booked for bigger things after maintaining his unbeaten record with a flawless hurdling debut at Chepstow.

Held in the highest regard by Philip Hobbs and Johnson White, the five-year-old arrived at the Welsh venue having created a real impression in bumpers last season and easily justified 1-2 favouritism in division two of the Angela Nettlefold Memorial ‘National Hunt’ Maiden Hurdle.

He could now head straight to the top table, with Aintree’s Formby Novices’ Hurdle on Boxing Day an option having delighted his team with a performance they were somewhat expecting from their star prospect.

White said: “He jumped, he travelled and Ben Jones kept it straightforward on him and he couldn’t have been more impressive – he’s very exciting.

“One of the lads in the yard said to me ‘what did I think’ and I said he did exactly what I hoped he would do, but what you hope and what they actually do are two different things.

“We’ve been excited all summer by him, but now he’s got literally the first hurdle out of the way we can start making some really nice plans for him.

“He’s a horse who travels well over two, but will get further as well. We’ll see how he is and make sure he’s OK and then we’ll decide if we step up in trip now, or stay at two miles and look at a Tolworth (Formby) or something like that.

“We’re just glad to get today out the way and see a good, positive run and go from there. There is plenty to dream about at the moment anyway.”

Wilstar (half brother to Jonbon/Douvan) vs Kadastral (Skelton hype horse) on Saturday at Wetherby.

I'm very much in the Wilstar camp over 2m. He's a 66/1 play for the Supreme, will probably end up not good enough, but a horse out of a dam that has produced two progeny (albeit by a different sire), one winning a Supreme & the other finishing 2nd in one, is too big a price for me to ignore.

….100-1 WTAF with Hills.

Been hammered in the betting too.

Opening show for today was 10/3 now 8/11 :ROFLMAO:

I managed to snare some 5/2, that was round for a fair while though.
