2026 Novice Chasers

I think so, trainer says he has a lot of speed, also will only be a 5yo by festival time so don't see them stretching him out to 3m just yet, 2m4f perhaps but as the Turners is now a handicap we're a long way off of considering horses for that.

Anything caught your eye in the early Arkle betting ?
I couldn't have him with stolen money tbh haha. Cant look past kopek think hes well clear of the rest in the market and think lulamba has very little chance of being a 2m chaser also.

Unfortunate, at least he is happy to give them a fence, I always thought he was cold on chasing for his mares, maybe it was just Honeysuckle he didn't want chasing.
Historical trends don’t look good do they………Hoping that he’s got a lot more important things on his mind at the moment ie defending charges against him, that he just lets Willie get on with it😄

Does anyone have an insight into how Kaid D’Authie is doing ? As he’s not been mentioned in Willies Stable Tour (I realise he can’t mention them all)…… as he’s an outlier in the Arkle IMO with Kopeck De Mee

4/1 shots in October aren't really for me in novice races, after how he performed at Punchestown you'd want to see him finish his next race off as well, and if he does the 4/1 will be long gone, so it's a bit of a punt all round for little reward eitherway imo.

When I googled Kenny just now to have a quick look myself I thought "Ooo hadn't noticed this story before"

Why would they go anywhere near a handicap?……she’s rated 159 inc her Mares allowance. She will only be 6 next year so will probably still be improving

Fences could be the making of her in getting her to settle ?…..and remember who beat her in the Triumph improved just over a stone for fences

If she doesn’t go chasing then where does she go apart from the Champ Hurdle?

The County comment was slightly in jest to be fair - but it is Willie after all? Who knows.

At this stage we don't even know if she is actually going chasing. Was merely commenting to say it would be unlike connections.

If she takes to chasing and is good enough then fair enough - IMO she would be more likely to turn up as Danny's ride in the Champion Hurdle then the Arkle though? I suppose we will see....

….Wendigo makes his debut over fences tomorrow, from ATR;

‘Wendigo has high hopes ahead of his chasing debut in a small yet competitive Richard Davis Memorial Beginners’ Chase field at Worcester.

The six-year-old emerged as one of the leading novice hurdlers trained in the UK last season and will be hoping to continue that trend for handler Jamie Snowden over fences.

The only time he finished out of the first two over hurdles was at the Cheltenham Festival when he lost very little in defeat finishing an eight-length fifth of 20 in the Albert Bartlett behind Jasmin De Vaux.’

Note; Wendigo 33-1 WTAF (BANC) with Hills.

It was Danny that mentioned her potentially being his Arkle horse.

Wendigo....

“He obviously had a great season last year and he’s come back in looking great; bigger, stronger and better,” Snowden said.

“Work has been good, jumping has been excellent and looking forward to getting started.

“He’s got a mark of 145, so he’s got a handicap mark that would suggest he will probably go down that graded route.

“You’d like to hope he’d go to Newbury or somewhere like that after Wednesday and work from there.”

Jumped on the Wendigo bandwagon myself, blaming @archie if all goes wrong :ROFLMAO:

In all seriousness though, it's a pretty dross race tomorrow and Jamie Snowden is in ridiculous form.

His last 14 day record looks like this:

16 runners
6 winners
6 placed (top 3)
2 4th's
1 5th
1 RR

Operating at a 37.5% win rate and a 75% top 3 finish.

Pic Roc will be no pushover tomorrow. Not far off on ratings and decent back form. Ben Pauling has a very good record at Worcester this season. Tight course with very short run in.

….Nicholls calls Regents Stroll ‘a machine’. Can’t remember who suggested him for the BANC @ 50-1;

‘He will definitely go novice chasing, but I’m in no hurry with him as it needs to rain before I can school him properly. He kept improving last year and only just missed out on winning the Grade One at Aintree. He has done well both physically, and mentally over the summer, and is in a good place so we are not going to mess about over hurdles.

“He is a lot more settled now and fences will also settle him down as he will have a lot more to think about. He is a machine as has lots of ability, but he has got to put it in all the right places and concentrate. He was a challenge last season, but we didn’t start on a good foot as he had ringworm. We have had a clear run with him this year, and I believe in the horse, but he has to go and deliver.

“He will be one that will look initially at the two-and-a-half mile route, however he will get three miles as he is definitely a stayer.”

9lbs difference on hurdles form.

That said, Pauling is also in good form.

🙋‍♂️🙋‍♂️

Long way to go, and still 50's available. He was 100's very early on.

My main concern with him is the trainer, more than the horse. Could look like the next Denman and could still end up avoiding Cheltenham!

Can see this horse going the Caldwell Potter route (JRNLHC)
