I backed petit mouchoir in the grimes hurdle thinking the efforts in defeat this season were franked quite a bit but i was wrong! Why is aramon come on alot more during the spring? I always thought he was a good hurdler and backed him for the county, mostly because of his race with klassical dream, hes obviously better then a handicapper but not quite the level needed?
 
Hills still going 12-1 Aramon (13-1 with boost) while PP go 6-1
 
Wonder Laish 14/1 in Sky national hunt RABs vs 8/1 with PP.

Aramon looks a cracking bet at 13/1. I do think he’s a horse who’s best seen on good ground.

You're dead right Paddy.

In six hurdle races with the word "good" in the going Aramon has won four and finished second and third in the other two.

According to the BBC weather forecast there's not going to be significant amounts of rain in the Galway area between now and the 30th.

With 8 horses in the top 20 entries (max 18 runners), Willie is in control of which of his entries run. I'd be inclined to wait on declarations as the big market moves usually take place on race day.
 
Had to pop down to the WH Shop to back FELIX DESJY for this on ‘the Machine’.
Their 12/1 appears to be the standout price for the horse.

Has an official rating of 151, and my guess is that he is making up for a lost 2019/20 season by prepping on the flat, and then taking a shot at the Galway Hurdle, before starting a Novice Chase campaign.

Fair point archie but I think it's a pretty safe bet Aramon will turn up.

He's the only one of Willie's 13 entries to have run since Cheltenham.

His victory in the Grimes Hurdle last month was the same race Willie used as a prep for Sharjah before he won the Galway Hurdle in 2018.

Last year Willie gave all 3 of his most fancied Galway Hurdle runners - Riven Light, Stratum and favourite Shanning - a prep run in either June or July.

So the intention is clearly to run Aramon who should (fingers crossed ) get his favoured good ground.

He's now best price 10-1.
 
Aramon (155) Petite Mouchoir (155) and Felix Desjy (151), are unusual in being 150+ rated runners in the Galway Hurdle.

In the last decade only four horses rated 150+ have run in the race, all finishing well down the field.

Clondaw Warrior (155) was a 10yo and a 25/1-shot, when attempting to win for the second year running.

Diakali (153) and an 11yo 33/1-shot Thousand Stars (153) had finished 1-2 in the Grimes Hurdle before flopping at Galway.

Purple Bay (151) was a UK John Ferguson raider who was unplaced when a 16/1-shot after a 14lb rise from his prep win in a Market Rasen Listed Hurdle.

I think this year is a different calibre of top-rated horses, with Aramon and Felix Desjy being 7yo with potential upside still.
 
While not in the same class yet as the ones mentioned above, Fan De Blues went into my notebook after the plunge on him at Leopardstown 25s>11/2. They tried to make all, but still weren't beaten far. Only up a pound. Interesting to see where they go with him.

Jack, I like him, out of all the low weights.

He is entered in both "early closer" handicap hurdle races. The 2M Galway Hurdle and the 2M 6&1/2F Guinness Handicap Hurdle on the following day (Friday). Off his low rating, he could be entered in more than that as the rest of the races go to 5-day entries.
I would back him wherever Willie runs him, I think he looks to have lots of potential improvement.

Yeah, given how he ran at Leopardstown i'd probably prefer him stay at the 2m trip, but if Willie decides otherwise, i won't let it put me off!

Only 1 four-year-old has won it since 1988 - Perugino Diamond carried 9st 8lbs in 2000.

It's also one of the few big races in Ireland that Gordon has yet to win.

Can't see any odds yet - double figures would be nice on Aramax.

Wont be having a bet but Aramax looks fabulously weighted to me. Interested in him potentially being a handicap horse at the fez but maybe he could turn out to be a champion Hurdle outsider.
 
Aramon backers might like to note that Ballinrobe is yielding, soft in places today.

David Jennings didn't even pick him in his RP column today.

I thought he loved him like no other horse has been loved by a human.

He picked Grade 1 placed novice, Mt Leinster.
