Cheltenham Festival Roll-Ups

The last Premier League game to be 2-0 after nine minutes and end 2-0 was Wolves' win at Sheffield United in September 2020.

Fingers crossed for a goal for you in injury time!

Dunno if you can actually roll it up, or have to do it manually, but the 9/2, 5/1 about Pierre Sage to be the next manager to be sacked is not to be sniffed at. I can't give too many details and betray my source, but the hierarchy lost confidence after game 2, and have already lined up his replacement. Obvs a risk someone else collapses quicker, but the finger is on the trigger

….even as an Everton fan, I think I’d be against Man City winning their next PL game.

I really can't see how they can possibly be allowed to stay in the Premiership this season.

Fine, transfer embargo and points deduction
I can't understand why no-one talks about the fact that the club has a very strong infrastructure as a result of their cheating so whenever their transfer ban ends they are set to dominate once again, and they must have known this is coming because they've gone chequebook crazy in the last 9 months.
Chelsea same really, obviously they put their hand up knowing new owners couldn't be penalised but their cheating created a false position they have benefited from since.
The real mess will come when all the clubs and players start claims cases against lost earnings/revenue...

I just can’t see them being kicked out mid season. A hefty fine which won’t bother them, a transfer ban for a couple of windows…..again won’t bother them as they’ve done enough business recently for a few windows. Then a points deduction that no doubt won’t be big enough to relegate them so they just waste a season in effect.
Kicking them out of the league would cause too many problems now. What would the players do for a year? The fans that bought season tickets?

I'm probably in the minority in this but I am not a fan of points deductions / relegations for financial irregularities (I'm not a City fan btw). Points deductions hurt the fans and the players all of whom have absolutely nothing to do with the financial situation. For me its the owners who should be targeted, with a hefty fine in the case of smaller transgressions but with being made to sell the club in the case of larger cases such as the City one. There is supposed to be a "fit and proper persons" test for ownership in the PL and if City are found guilty then their owners have blatantly failed to meet this test. They should be forced to sell the club on the open market and the Premier League should take their fine (and it should be a big one) from the proceeds. Can't see it happening in this case given the political ramifications unfortunately.

….bottom line is City have cheated. All of those players would not have been on the pitch had the club not committed the most shady cooking of their accounts. They have to have the book thrown at them otherwise there is little or no deterrent for others.

It’s the scale of the ‘scam’ that’s colossal, not forgetting the benchmark has been set with Everton and Forest nearly being relegated for far less breaches. Also, the PL forced Everton to pay Burnley £38m in compensation after they declared Burnley might otherwise have avoided the drop.

That last sanction alone opens a whole series of club v Man City litigation that takes years to settle. Every PL club over the last decade or so could bid for compensation.

I expect the least that will happen is relegation but this is the PL. it’s an absolute mess.

Totally agree Eggs. They have to be thrown out of the Prem. Not sure the EFL will be keen on them either. Proper mess but they deserve it. Feel sorry for their true fans but sentiment just can't come into it.

They won't get thrown out. They bring too much money in. The Premier League is the financial hub of world football and has shown in the past to treat teams differently. Everton and Forest had the book thrown at them knowing they couldn't really afford to challenge it. Chelsea got a very manageable punishment and they will do the same with City. They will get a proportionate fine which will look huge to all the other clubs but water off a ducks back to Citeh. They will probably get a 12 point deduction in about 2029 when it's been dragged out through the courts and in the meantime will adjust their finances and squad in preparation for it.

This is why I fell out with football. When I was a kid, (90s mainly) it was all about entertainment, no clubs were going bust (not of the size that are currently on the verge) F.A cup giant killings were exciting, and players weren't being paid a kings ransom. Now it's just pure business and clubs and livelihoods depend on sponsors and player sales and the knock on effect is creating a chasm to the lower league sides who are all living in debt. You see the same players and managers doing the merry-go-round to the same clubs for huge money, failing and moving on again. VAR is appalling and has completely put the final nail in and the bookies have overwhelmed the markets with bet builders and are trying to close down all other betting avenues (like horse racing fans)

Football has a lot to answer for 😂

I'd be very surprised if they are not given a sufficient enough points deduction to ensure at least relegation.
Likely to be similar to what happened to Juventus and the Italian clubs. A downgrade to last place and then a points deduction in the league below for next season. Plus a massive fine and transfer Ban.

The trophies they won whilst cheating is a more difficult one, but removing their victories from the record books might also happen. Again this happened to Juventus.

Basically, Downgraded to last place in this years premier league and begin the following season with a points deduction.
City will do well on appeal to get a smaller points deduction in the Championship next season.
Which is what happened in Italy, after the appeals.

The money they bring in is not relevant, as was the case in Italy.
The Italian case was obviously about referee manipulation over one season mainly, whilst City is massive financial fraud over a decade.
Arguably worse IMO.

And if players like Semenyo and Guehi don't have a relegation clause (like whats been reported) in their contract then they are fucking stupid.

Forgot about the embargo. That will likely happen too. I can't see it being settled this season though. I think the court process and appeals will have to happen first. I could see it being another year or two yet. If they punish them now and City prove their innocence later down the line (looks unlikely i know), But City could basically bankrupt the Premier League if they are demoted, have to lose players etc.

Doubt it will take that long.
If City appeal on Friday, then the Pemier League will likely ensure the appeal process does not go on too long, and this is usually capped at around 12 weeks, so January most likely, then the punishment will be handed down almost immediately after this. City will then appeal the punishments, and likely get something shaved off.

Obviously lots of other legal challenges will follow, and from all angles.
Etihad airways can get fucked also. (Fucking Hot dog van will be suing the premier league for reputational damages next)

It's like taking legal action against the High Court for reputational damage after them finding your business partner guilty of fraud. Instead of giving your business partner a slap.

I'd imagine they'll lose a fair few of their big names in the January window. Mass exodus

….City still 9/4 to get relegated this season but getting beat in their next league game could be roll-up material.

If they were given a 75 point punishment, would bookies void bets already placed on them??

….presume you mean to get relegated. I’d doubt they would because this was always a possible scenario. I never checked their price at the beginning of the season but I doubt it was ever massive.
