2026 Champion Chase

Thistle ask
Another example of trainer and stable jockey influence ?

Not sure he’d be suited or good enough myself
But you’d only know if you tried
If it continues to dry he'd stretch them for sure. The old course would suit him as well. They should go.

Chances are they made the decision not to go well before the Marine news.
Horses need precision training to get to championship races and show their form, they may well have had him on the easy list for a couple of weeks with a view to bringing him back in a week or two to gear up for Aintree, who knows, but they’re not Ferrari’s, you can’t leave them untouched for a while start the engine and get 100% performance.
As for the actual race, if IET is on the boat he’d be of interest but Quillixos looks the value play to me right now…

Spot on.

I'd have thought they'd have had him ticking over myself, as reserve for Leau du sud.
He is still entered in the race and has not been scratched.

….still trying to work out whether to cover IET. The last day it was a very tired looking call, not ideal, but prior his form this season was excellent. I’ve been burned by him twice before at the fez but a 10lb below par run may be good enough if Majborough falters. I give LDS and quilixios a squeak, but surely nothing outside can be good enough?

They might consider going here with only by night now, similar to last year when they decided to go for the arkle over the mares chase after sir gino dropped out. Not much between her and lean du sud that day over course and distance, if majborough comes a cropper again they might not fear much else.

Interesting. Happy enough to put a line through the last run as was ridiculously hampered. This race is hard now, because Maj should (could) bolt up. If he jumps he wins for me, will have to have a think whether it’s worth backing against him, in the hope he takes a fence with him, or not.

Quite willing to forgive IET one bad run, he didn't look happy at all from the get go at Ascot. He's a tiny thing so hopefully with some better ground it should help him over his fences.

If his jumping holds up in the early parts then I definitely feel he has that perfect blend of speed and stamina to cause Majborough problems. He's most certainly quicker in my eyes and could put Majborough's jumping under pressure if he can get upside him three or two out.

Might be one to play in running, see how he copes early.

Actually forgot the exact placings of that arkle and thought they were neck and neck, having checked she beat leau du sud nearly a length. I think majborough is the best horse but still loads of question mark for me and id be very keen to bet against him. I have him for a good return but definitely wouldnt be thinking he has it sewn up by any stretch.

Only by night is just one that looks a real two miler to me. I think she'd be comfortable enough going a good gallop on drying ground, as she travels well and jumps well, and doesnt have to be prominent, so could stay out of any skirmishes for the lead. I could see her going well for a long way, whether she's good enough to actually win is another matter, but could see her placing at least.

The fact he can take a fence with him is the reason to be against him at the price he is now, obviously at the bigger prices it was worth the risk

That’s not a bad shout imo

Maj is going to have to be a huge stat buster if he is to win the CC.

Majborough is a good thing, people forget that he actually jumped fine at Christmas too 👍

Can he bust that incredible stat though ?

Irish Panther team rolling the dice here.
It doesn't say a lot for the established chasers. Don't think I would touch him at 25/1, let alone half the price. 9yo, by a terrible sire, who has won two races in his life, and the two chase runs are not exceptional. Yes, he got close to Romeo Coolio, but that horse clearly wants further, and even then it's debatable how good he is. It would have to be an absolute shocker for him to place.

IET on Y/S or better over fences: 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1
