    2026 Grand National

Confirmations ongoing. If Willie confirms (and declares on Wednesday) all his, and assuming that L'Homme Presse is out, Johnnywho would need either French Dynamite or Now Is The Hour to come out if they all stand their ground on Wednesday. As Cromwell has confirmed other entries but not Now Is...

While there has been a fair amount of rain, it has also been quite windy so, with the good grass growing conditions the last few weeks, I'd expect decent ground at Aintree when they give a going report later this week. While there's no official report on the going as yet, this page on the...

Grand National meeting & US Masters Double 2026

Not invested any actual money as yet but my shortlists for a competition within my Cheltenham group are: GN - anything that ran in the Bobbyjo. Masters - Rahm, Aberg and, because I like a leftie for the course, a punt on Bhatia.

    2027 The Prices on Offer

The best 3m chaser around will probably win either the KG or the Savills but the extra 2f makes a huge difference in March. If they were ever going to run FtF in the Gold Cup it would have been this year.

Still a key question. It looks like the shorter price McManus horses have other jockeys set so hope springs eternal.

    2026 Grand National

I consider myself a semi-local having lived in the Wirral or North Wales for over 30 years. What I would say is that the drainage at Aintree ain't great and the course is vulnerable to late rain - I refer members of the jury to Little Polveir and Red Marauder. However, I also remember that the...

    2026 Grand National

Cheltenham showed us that when all the form is on soft ground or worse, you can get surprises on quicker ground. I wouldn't be backing anything until we have a better idea of the likely going but, as it stands, my long list is the ones who ran in the Bobbyjo. If I had to do a shorter list I'd...

    2026 Grand National

What do you think the cut-off mark will be? Probably get a better idea after scratchings on the 24th but it could be relatively well up the 140s.

    2026 Grand National

I wouldn't be betting until I was a little more confident about the going but I'm currently looking at Grangeclare West and Lecky Watson. The latter is 33/1 nrnb and 50/1 ante post which seems fair enough for a BANC winner who has run in the right races this season.

March ‘26 Yankee courtesy of @Quevega.

Henderson did say that Old Park Star is probably a chasing type and he has a good record of taking Supreme winners to the Arkle. I said in this season's novice hurdlers thread that he usually delivers when he has a good one and I think OPS is as safe a choice as you'll get this early.
