  • Hi mate. I'm enjoying the Cheltenham thread again this year - thanks for doing it. Just one 'observation' that you can choose to ignore it you want. I thought Broadway Boy's performance in the 3m novice chase was particularly taking and the race has historically been a good trial for the RSA / BANC. Winners of the race have gone on to win and place in the same season and if Broadway Boy turns up for the BANC of NHC in March, he runs a big race (IMO of course!).
    Roll on March!!

Thanks mate! I must admit that race very nearly made it in it was just the fact that in last few years it's only thrown up a few 3rd places. Certainly worth keeping an eye on especially after that talking performance from Broadway Boy! Must admit I'm personally hoping that is a big tick for Flooring Porter to back his first run up this weekend!
Hi NR. Thanks for your hard work on the 'Cheltenham Meets' thread - always an enjoyable read. Just in case you didn't read the Greatwood post-race comments, Alan King says that Harbour Lake would benefit from a step up in trip and they would work back from The Coral Cup. His current handicap mark would mean he would probably sneak in at the bottom of the weights give or take a pound or two.
Keep up the good work mate - it's appreciated.

Brilliant, I had not seen that so thanks for sharing, always good to have a few ideas in mind for the new year when handicaps come round and he is certainly off an attractive mark if they can manage it well!
I'm part way through reading your brilliant preview of the Cheltenham November meeting NR - thanks very much for putting in the time and effort and posting it. One stat you may or may not know regarding the Paddy Power Chase is the success of horses that have contested Grade 1 races previously. No fewer than 15 winners this century have run in a grade 1 race and 4 of the past 13 winners have won a grade 1. Obviously the past is no guide to the future but probably worth bearing in mind maybe? I'll carry on reading now. Thanks again :encouragement:

I hadn't seen that stat before but I guess it makes sense with the sort of horses that go there. Thanks for sharing it! It's interesting that those going on to Grade 1 from this Saturdays race have as strong as record as they do, it seems to translate both ways before and after the November Gold Cup!

Thanks for the kind words, glad you enjoy it! It's the sort of thing I do myself anyway so thought I may aswell share it and see if others can get some use!
