Novice Chasers 2027

OPS entered for a graduation chase at Carlisle on Monday over 2m. Make of that what you will... Very surprised he is out before AOI in any case.
Maybe the ground is softer there ?

With all these meetings being cancelled, we are going to see these better horses start out where they can as opposed to the usual routes

It’s not what I would expect for his first chase.
My first thoughts are that the horse is ready for a run and Hendo is looking around for suitable ground for the horse. He is a trainer that can get very fussy with ground, particularly with his top horses.
Would not be surprised to see some more entries next week

…..presume somebody has requested a Lads special; Joltin N Jiving BANC 200-1

….Sober Glory;

‘We are just waiting for more rain for Sober Glory, and he won’t run until we have softer ground. He could run at the Cheltenham November meeting or at Exeter the Monday after - he looks a lovely sort for novice chasing over two miles. Hopefully he will be a leading candidate for the Arkle at Cheltenham in March.’

Probably make his debut in the Arkle at this rate. We all better do a mahoosive rain dance. Very little of the wet stuff forecast right up until PP meeting

Townend told Betway: “At this time of year, people are always asking me for a horse to follow, and it’s so difficult because there are so many exciting horses at Willie’s, and it’s never easy to pick just one.

“King Rasko Grey would be the one I think I’m really looking forward to if I had to pick one, and even though nothing is set in stone, I’d imagine he’ll go chasing this year.

“He rides like a chaser and feels like a horse that should improve again for fences, and he’s a horse that kept on progressing throughout the season last year, so he’s a very exciting horse to look forward to.

“I really liked the way he got down and dirty to win at Punchestown at the end of the season, and that attitude will stand him in good stead for going chasing.

“It’s never easy to predict which way the winner of the Turners (Novices’ Hurdle) will go trip wise, because you need to have a turn of foot to win that, and I think he could go either way with regards to trip.

“He had the pace in the Turners to be in control of the race, and then he outstayed them at Punchestown, so I just think he’s very straightforward and he’s a horse I’m really excited about this year.”

Old Park Star...

“He probably won’t go to Carlisle,” said Henderson. “We were trying to go to Exeter and we’ve lost the race that I was aiming for. We might wait."

Bossman Jack....

Last season's Grade 1 winner Bossman Jack goes chasing, but Skelton won't commit to a Brown Advisory campaign.

"I've no doubt about any trip for him really," he said. "I think there could be even bigger targets the following year. So I just don't want to empty the tank."

The plan is a run first, then the Cheltenham December meeting.

No significant rain forecast. How late will Hendo leave it?
