Have there been any updates from the Mullins stable on Jasmin De Vaux?

I've not seen any and I have been looking. I can't get involved in him at this stage. A year off the track, even if he is ok and being aimed at the race, he is a definite candidate to be beaten first time out. His price is far too short at this stage for me

He put him up when talking to boylesports as one of his 5 to follow that are impressing at home right now


“He’s on the comeback trail, will probably go down the Stayers’ Hurdle route, and is one where I think he could be very competitive.

“He won a bumper then the Albert Bartlett but missed all of last season.

“He’s on a recovery mission at the moment and looks pretty good.”

‘Soldier Reeves had a great year going novice hurdling last year and just improved and improved. He finished fourth at Cheltenham in the Turners and then second in the Mersey Novices’ at Aintree. I think there is massive unfinished business for him over hurdles. Hopefully, we can step him up to three miles around Christmas and beyond.’

Given his current official rating this may be unlikely but anyone else worried Soldier Reeves might run like stink all season to be this years Pertemps plot?

I'd say Supremely West more likely for a repeat though as they messed with him all last season leading up to the Fez and then won easily. Can see them doing the same. Start off in graded races and work their way down.

Supremely West was one of those situations where it was clear early he was a very well handicapped horse who was qualified for the Pertemps. I think Soldier Reeves will be given every opportunity to prove himself at the highest level.
