Feel like the Jimmy today and festival bet deserved better.

Might have to take the 20s for the Stayers now

Nice to see Bob win again though

How is kopek 5/1 for the champion chase

Iv not had a single bet for next years festival

The prices are scandalous imo across the board

Youd think most of them were NRNB or something

Agree. Getting worse as each year passes.

…..nasty looking fall for Kopek.
Watched his fall back again. Odd fall? Seemed to jump it ok but landed steep and his front legs just crumpled under him. Be interesting what Willie/PT say.

I'd say watch it again, on the front angle you can see he never got his front legs over, they went through the fence.
For such a superstar he needs to work on a few things before next season, that said Gaelic wasn't straight forward in his early days either so..

Surely only one place Soldier In Milan will head next season, imo of course, will be the Grand National.

He got a stone off the Irish handicapper, be surprised if he gets too much more of the English, especially if pissing about in Grade 1’s before Xmas.

Zanoosh will be interesting, 3m a step too far at Punch, but on a line through Charme De Faust she's clear of the MNH form. Heavily raced this year though

Galiways have gone 1, 1, 1, 2, 1 this week. On better ground and away from a fence they’re electric.

I’ve taken a swing at Kai Lung at 80/1 (4 places). Form isn’t really there at this level I think he’s a solid horse and hope he can run into a place. I’ve taken an ew punt on what is still G/Y ground.

Golden Ace. Will go Mares next year IMO.
Good shout, could be the each way play early doors @ 20/1, especially if they think they can’t beat Lossie over 2m next year 👍

Normally though they go down in trip rather than up ie Annie, Lossie……although Honeysuckle did both!

Wodhooh maybe Stayers?
JDG maybe Mares Chase?
BDA maybe Mares Chase?
G1 potential novices look light this year

Golden Ace has beaten JDG and BDA (twice) at the festival, so even if they run youd hope she has a chance and at a price less than 20/1

Pretty sure they said they should have gone for the Mares this year.

Posted this in the flat section, but obviously it gets no footfall so posting here:

Does anyone have any recommendations for resources for understanding/getting into the flat? I've dabbled, but having fallen a bit out of love with jumps, but have always found the flat a bit impenetrable. Would love to better understand the structure of the season, the differences between ages, handicapping etc

Id probably start by watching all the big race replays from the last year or two on the atr and racing tv youtube channels and focus on the group racing.

Main tip is to just avoid all 5f and 6f races. Their have been no proper group 1 horses over that distance for years and its a bunch of handicappers running in big races taking turns to beat each other.

Irish racing is like the jumps, its absolutely dominated by aidan obrein. Though its always worth taking note when william haggas sends one over.

Learning pedigrees is also much more important on the flat than the jumps. Knowing which horses will likely improve from 2 to 3 and a step up in trip etc

….notice Zanndabad (popular on here for the Festival but didn’t turn up) declared for the Chester Cup on Friday.

Didn't turn up at Aintree either

Sounds like quite the debacle unfolding at Chester.

Racing paused due to horses slipping on the surface, racing resumes, Haggas pulls a horse as the jockey says the surface is "dangerous"
