National Hunt Chase (4 miler) 2018

can someone explain to me why jury duty is 4-1 for this. clearly doesnt stay. go back and watch his last race in naas and its actually startling how much he faded after the last where moulin a vent (a solid 10 lenths plus behind) manages to get back and win comfortably

Im 100% with you rtr. Didn't fancy him at 10/1 never mind 4/1. Havent seen anything to suggest he will get this trip.

Jamie Codd being confirmed to ride is the main reason.

Must admit, I am not Jury Duty at 14's and the more I watch his races back the more pessimistic I am about his chances. Think I may have got this one wrong, which I am happy to admit. Gives me time to rethink the race mind.

No Comment the one for me here. Backed a few but that's the one i'm making my biggest winner. Just seems solid and ticks most of the boxes

Jury Duty has a habit of pulling himself up, he'll be played late for sure. Only danger is if he gets left in front.

Im on No Comment too. Slightly worried about his lack of experience over fences... and Hobbsy's form, but happy enough with 16/1.

Ive come around to Fagan being the likeliest winner now.

The only concern for me is his 1 and only run over fences, that's inexperience at a big festival like Cheltenham, other than that I can see why he would be fancied for this.

Am sure he doesn't fit the trends on that count, but he has always looked as though he would thrive for a step up in trip. Derek O Connor such a bonus, i'm sure he'll drop him out the back and give him a great ride

I agree. I like NC but I cannot back a horse that has run once over fences.

I quite like No Comment as this has been the plan for a while and he's been smashed up in recent days due to the non participation of Dounikos, Elegant Escape and the like. As I can't have Rathvinden and firmly believe that Jury Duty will be outsayed - even with a waiting ride - I'm drawn towards Mossback and Lisa O'Neill as an alternative to the McManus plot. Fagan appeals to me more than Jury Duty but I can't help thinking Dounikos would have been the one if he had come here. That said, I can see why they would like a swing at the RSA

Anyone know likely riders for Duel at Dawn and Reigning Supreme?

Fagan has had a similar prep to a couple of Elliot's previous winners of this race. I saw him run at Perth last September and liked the shape he made over the fences. He looked to me like he was carrying a lot of condition that day but still came out the best horse at the weights against Ballyandy who was wound up for a race which is often targeted by Nigel Twiston-Davies. Fagan was one of the best over hurdles of the entries and should handle the four miles. I'd like to see him in the paddock to see if he's leaner than the last time I saw him. Maybe he's one of those greys that looks a bit burly.

Fagan doesn't want the ground, so my original optimism for this one has almost gone. Just let with mossbank. For some reason, I can't back jury duty even though I've followed it last year!!. If I get the first winner on Tuesday, I will no doubt relent....

Mossbank was Elliot's EW bet of the day yesterday.

Can see it running a big race and I was on early and I have a good feeling about the horse!!

No Fagan entered.

I thought he had a good chance, but Elliott quite downbeat about him on the ground...and the owners have another live one so not the biggest shock I suppose
