Hi everyone. New poster and therefore just offering an opinion, but given that the prices of the front two in The Arkle are likely to be closer the nearer we get to raceday, is Footpad not becoming better value? Surely he would be a solid start to your opening day bet?

It's a tough one Scoob isn't it, because it's unlikely there's going to be selections that everyone is dead happy with. Loads of people in the thread have suggested the favs, loads of people demanding value. It's a bit of a head wrecker really, and a tough balancing act.

My two pennies on the Footpad/PM choice would side with Footpad.... as desie777 (welcome) says, the closer they get in price, the better value I think Footpad is.

I couldn't be sure but there's every chance robith is looking at an each way yankee, if that is the case Footpad probably too short to be included....

I don't envy your task on the first day I must admit. I believe the 1st day is my best. However I can't see much value in the bigger priced horses on the 1st day which is usually my bread and butter. The only " VALUE" I can see. Is footpad at 6/4 And possibly mossback in the 4 miler but he's shortened up enough. And the 2 mares la bague au roi and jers girl ew without Apple's jade.
I think tycoon Prince at 20/1 is overpriced in the novice handicap but you'd do very well to pick the winner of that.
And first flow could well be overpriced In the supreme, but that's a visual impression rather than substance.

Good shout. I'm having a last minute wobble on PM though. Everyone has picked him lots, but softer ground really strengthens footpad's case imo
 
I agree re PM. Just think the biggest danger to Footpad is Saint Calvados and the rain would put me off PM even more

I agree with that.

PM Would be my 3rd choice in the Arkle now... ground related.

WOuldn't have a problem with the momentum behind ANy Second now, although I like Testify on the ground at his price too
