I love these free bet offers but I wouldn't get stuck into horses like Getabird at 5/4. I am always going to take a swing at a bigger price to get off to a flyer, safe in the knowledge I get my stake back to bet again if I get it wrong.

See the logic and something I do myself. For me, my two Supreme selections were Getabird and ITCF (and Slate House after CT confirmed), but I didn't really properly back The Bird and I'd be loathe to start lumping money on now. Whereas with this offer I can do so with impunity!

By contrast I deffo won't be using it like that for Samcro, who I am comfortable with my position on

I've personally missed the prices on Getabird as a single bet (only in a few multiples) and with good coverage on most other options at the top of the market - I will probably make the most of piling into G'Bird on the day - knowing that there is also a safety net.

As you say, best to take it day by day, as I too have a good position on Samcro and would use it as a "saver" on A.N.Other if necessary.

This is great news, being already significantly down on the first race albeit with a few runners still remaining I'm seriously considering using these first race offers to help back every horse in the race (Kev style) and look to get back as close to evens as possible. Not exactly an exhilirating way to start the Festival but I'd be delighted to get my money back on this race and go from there.

Does everyone agree to wait to the morning of the race to utilise these offers on Getabird at least, in the hope the price gets pushed out or is that unlikley with these firms?

Yes, 100%. Getabird will be his biggest price between 8am-10am

Thanks Kev, would never have dreamed of doing this until reading your account of what you did last year in this race, but certainly appeals to me now :)

Yeh the bookies are sneaky like that. Loads of 'specials' where you can just back them normally at marginally lower prices or in some instances, as Gibbo says, at better prices!
