Arkle 2018

Crickey, Saint Calvados now best price 12/1 NRNB - well done to whoever put him up at 100/1 :devilish::triumphant:

Seriously though, the sea of blue I can see must be Pricewise related?!

Shame if it is, that'll be the kiss of death :highly_amused:

Cracking shout Kev, went to follow you in but was only 50s available by the time I looked and thought that wasn't big enough...:sorrow:

I still think Rawnaq was a better bet in the Stayers last season at 100/1 :highly_amused:

When Nichols Canyon won the Stayers I thought I'd been mugged! Rawnaq had him covered all day long

I know I wanted him to go for the JLT but seriously 10/1 Saint Calvados for this?

He has three Champion Hurdle class horses in front of him and several now at bigger prices who have achieved more, perhaps a good deal more.

So far he has dominated a couple of small fields round the same track. He has to prove he can dominate a much better field and do that at a track where he has no experience.

Even at 20/1 there wasn't much more than a chance of a place. Now he is a crazy price.

Depends how much he's come on for fences he wouldn't have had to at all so far.
He's well held on hurdle form. And i dont exoec6t him to get anywhere near the arkle. But this isn't a hurdle race and you never know.

Footpad beat device. Saint calvados is no where near the same parish as device over hurdles

Should have taken the 100/1 then :P

Western Warhorse wasn't very good either? :devilish:

He is going to win the Arkle by about 8L

** okay maybe not :highly_amused: - but until he tries you can't knock him for not doing something yet?

Sceau Royal shorter in the betting has no spring form, Footpad no form on good ground, Petit Mouchoir 1 run over fences and an injury.... there is a chance that people are getting carried away by "champion hurdle horses" running in the Arkle.... let's face it, non of them we're anywhere NEAR the winner and got beaten by MTOY.... not exactly superstars over hurdles by ANY stretch.

SC is progressive at least.... ***all that said, 10/1 is too short now compared to North Hill Harvey at 16/1

As expected, Footpad & PM both declared for the weekend, whatever happens, and provided he makes it round, PM will massively come on for the run.

Can anyone see Footpad going for the JLT, even if he wins at the weekend?

Absolutely not. Other than mischievous gravy trainers I don't anyone else has given it a serious thought.

Not if He wins.

If he gets beat with no excuses then I think Footpad will go JLT

I think a better question would be if Petit Mouchoir gets trounced will they bother to take him on again?

PM loses. Excuse is that he needed the run and will come on for it.

FP loses. No excuses....but very much doubt that happening.

It's not a done deal. I'd only be just edging it in footpads favour at the weekend

I would be happy with anything up to about an 8l defeat for PM, anything more and I'd be worried.

It's a lot to ask, coming back from an injury and with an interrupted prep to win against a fluent and impressive to date horse in Footpad IMO.

Whatever happens I'll be sitting in front of my cash out options as the race unfolds!

You can't cashout during the race they freeze it as soon as they're off and dosent come back until the market and your cashout is adjusted.

PM could win no doubt, they do plenty at home de bromhead just covering himself.

As a PM backer for Arkle, I too wouldn’t be too despondent I’d hes beat up to 5 lengths.

I presume that Petit Mouchoir will go hard from the front? That's what worked over hurdles. The problem would be that he would be trying to draw mistakes out of what has looked an exceptional jumper. I normally take trainer comments with a large pinch of salt but Willie has appeared to be very excited about Footpad from the start.

I think even if you excluded Willies comments, it is clear to see, just watching Footpad that he is exceptional at his fences. One very much I wish I had more on, especially considering the amount I have PM covered by.
