Cheltenham Gold Cup 2018

Taylorch1990 mentioned on the Arkle thread about horses perhaps being pushed out after defeat and that Minella Rocco is now a backable price.

He is 25/1 (in 1 place) and I completely agree. For all that we heard they are expecting a good run from Minella Rocco tomorrow, based on Jonjo's previous traits you can confidently say he will be a different horse on Gold Cup day"

His Festival record as we know is very good, with the win over Native River in the 4 miler then ahead of that horse again, staying on better over thew 3m2f... I am not mad keen on horses winning at the second attempt but he is now twice the price of Native River, and that is worth 1 pt e/w for me.

I think he was a shorter price for RSA before injury, I'm sure I backed it for RSA

Was 5/1 but that was nrnb so hard to say where hed have deffinately gone.
I backed him at 40s. Still hurts now lol.

I lost money on him in the RSA and had stake returned for the RSA.... so knowing the way I was working, I'd have had a saver NRNB.... so I'd guess the longer trip was the one I had him down for.

40s with 365 before his chase debut, after the 3 mile hurdle race with bellshill.
Iv had worse, but i did fancy him, especially with our duke bypassing the race, luckily I normally build a book on the race (back multiple runners at double figures)
 
I have a book too, and do a portfolio so I can look back over etc. I think I great how people have different ways of going around things, like, books, spreadsheets, portfolios, trend following.
 
As expected Might Bite will not be running at Haydock in the Betfair Chase. Starts off at Sandown on November 12th.
Sad to hear having 4 points on the Triple Crown and adamant he would hack up at Haydock. Struggle to see him beat in the King George though and an easy prep run does him no harm on that front.

IT'S great to be back in action for a brand new jumps season. I know it started the Monday after Sandown in April but this is when the racing really steps into gear and if this campaign goes as well as last, we’re in for a great ride! The horses have summered well and once we get some rain I hope to get plenty more out over the next month or so.

Many people are keen to know where MIGHT BITE will make his seasonal debut and I can confirm exclusively to Unibet that he will NOT run in the Betfair Chase at Haydock and instead will head to Sandown for the Listed Future Stars Intermediate Chase on November 12th, which obviously rules him out of the £1million Jockey Club bonus. We feel this race is the slightly easier option, as we have big aims later in the season, which include the King George and ultimately the Gold Cup. He’s summered very well and is in great form but I don’t want him having a hard race first time out, therefore this seems the sensible option to kick off with.

If anyone has bets for the Triple Crown and Might Bite with Bet365 - they are still offering the Cash out if you are quick. Managed to get £18 back from £20 staked through them. Sadly the rest was with Paddy Power

Anyone else uneasy that this was announced through a bookmaker? You'd like to think that Unibet might refund recent bets on Might Bite in lieu of any proof as to when they knew.

I'm not keen on the whole Jockey/ Trainer and Bookmaker relationships tbh. Why can't these jockeys or trainers find third party sponsorship from the media, rather than appear to be in cahoots with the bookies.

I'm not suggesting foul play but information must be shared that isn't in the public domain.
 
Not sure if he has been mentioned as a potential Gold Cup horse on here but what about Cloudy Dream as a possible outsider? Plenty of horses have ran well the Arkle and improved massively for the step up in trip (Kicking King, War of Attrition etc).

He's available at huge prices on the exchanges

That run just now by Cloudy Dream would go along with thoughts about going over 3 miles. Running on again at the end there. He's always just looked below top class but 3 miles might be what he needs. Would not put anyone off big prices after that run at all.

Jumped and travelled like a horse who would appreciate the longer trip today for me
 
Agreed, looks like he could be a stayer to me. Could he do what Sizing John did last season, and improve massively for a step up in trip
 
Sizing John taking a walk on the exchanges, 9/1 currently, was as short as 11/2 yesterday, impending news? Or maybe Our Duke tanks all over him at home :p

Speaking of the mighty Our Duke. He is due to reappear THIS Saturday against a battalion of Gigginstown runners, including last year's winner Valseur Lido and Outlander.

Now I'm not confident on how tuned up he'll be, but I am so hopeful he can put diem an early marker! It won't be time to tear up the slips of he is beaten but it'll be a hammer blow in my mind!

I spent a lot of Saturday night following a rare QPR win drunkenly boring my other football attending horse racing pal about how Our Duke was the one, don't want to look too foolish now
