2017 Close Brothers Novice Chase

Twisty giving Foxtail Hill as his best bet of the week. Hard to kick out of a place.

Given that Ballyandy was their NAP last year it's probably something worth taking note of as he went on and won the bumper. Also, that Foxtail Hill form looks rock solid.

This is going to be close for RDS - can anyone pick out 5 that won't line up? Heron Heights isn't according to FF Podcast

I desperately tried to find 5 but some that I had on my list have jockeys named now so that might scupper things.

Foxtail Hill was very good on trials day...will run a super race but not keen on the price anymore and has gone up 7lbs. He'll set a strong gallop up front so looking for a horse guaranteed to stay the hill. Step forward the underrated Potters Legend @ 20/1. Was a solid second to Royal Vacation on Trials day and is off the same weight

If he sneaks in it'll be as number 20 i think

Yes he'll be on the wire for sure. I was hoping Final Nudge would be going for the Midlands National but Gavin Sheehan is jocked up. I also thought Zamdy Man would run over 2m instead of here but he has Coleman jocked up.

Yard are in great form, and I think Potters legend is their only entry next week

Coleman seems to have lost the plot of late, his race reading appears to need adjusting

Interesting stat I read in this one - horses with first time headgear fitted in this race have shown a 92% ROI over the years. A plus for Hammersley Lake..?

and all 3 Skelton horses.... all going to be wearing cheek pieces he confimed tonight.

Itsafreebe, Two Taffs and Value At Risk

I like Two Taffs of the 3. They really fanicied him off a similar mark in the fixed brush Hurdle but he didn't run his race in the end. Jumped lovely on debut at Kempton and has since been looked after in order to keep his mark below the ceiling. I'd expect the handbrake will be off on Tuesday and Davy on board is another plus. I should be bitter at Skelton for running all 3 as it means Romain De Senam will have no chance of making the cut now.

He did say Two Taffs was the only one of the three that had been targeted at this race... the others just 'happened'.

RDS got no chance now of getting in?

Most horses ahead of him have jockeys listed now so he'll need nearly every horse without a jockey to be scratched tomorrow. I can't see that many being pulled at such a late stage.

I can only find two of those above him that aren't running but the could be 3 others, is going to be tight.

Romain De Senam missed out by one. However, I would fear Two Taffs even more now as he's got first time cheek pieces and tongue tie. He's the back up now.

Fair enough maybe at double figure prices but Foxtail Hill now looks pretty short to me. Yes, the trainer is bullish (when isn't he?) but it is surely going to be much harder to reproduce that last run carrying almost two stone more on likely much quicker ground?

I get the two taffs angle but think Zamdy Man overpriced at 25s. Its not a race to go mad with.
