2026 Champion Chase

Ahead of the Christmas period I've had a sneaky e/w fiver on The Jukebox Man for this at 40/1. Probably wasting my money (but it was placed using a free bet voucher ;)) but my reasoning is that his jumping is so good and he does have the tactical speed to get involved in a QMCC. I got into racing watching the great Desert Orchid win a Whitbread at Sandown over 3m 5f and then go back 8 months later to win a Tingle Creek and I do just wonder whether The Jukebox Man might prosper more at shorter trips with his hugely accurate jumping and high cruising speed. If he doesn't win the King George tomorrow (and the staying chase division is ultra-competitive) I think they might have to reconsider Gold Cup plans and, although the Ryanair might be their natural reaction, I think he could be very competitive in the QMCC. For reasons already discussed on this thread, we don't really have a standout horse at the top of the 2 mile chase championship market and maybe that is a void that The Jukebox Man can fill.

Caww watching Majborough is like watching el fabiolo 😂 best he’s jumped to date? And keen as hell. Liked what I saw from marine after that race ending mistake.

Majborough has no chance in champion chase, the engine isn't as great as people make out

Always got an excuse hasn't he?
I didn't back him, nor did I think he would win so no excuses but it looked a right stopper. Need to watch the replay to see it again. His jumping was better today but a little ponderous - maybe they should aim him at the Champion Hurdle? ;)

On the plus side he jumped much better today, If anyone was searching for positives that is, Only By Night had no luck throughout, put a line through the run for her.

Thistleask has to come into CC contention after that. The rest don't jump as well as him for sure !

champion chase is a match, Marine National vs IET. IET to outstay MN up the hill. Might just do the forecast now and get it over with :)

….jockey suggested he needs to go right handed and maybe best on a flat track.

Great run from both Solness and Marine Nationale, especially after the mistake the latter made to throw him out of position. What to make of Majborough though? Jumped better, had every chance, just seemed a bit one paced at the finish. Suspect softer ground and a stiffer test may suit more though he will have a bit to find still. 25/1 available for Solness seems fair. Probably ground dependent but feel his form tailed off after a long season as opposed to not enjoying Cheltenham for his 20 length 4th place. He got similar ratings for both Cheltenham and then Punchestown which followed. No worries about being over raced this time where I assume it will be DRF then Cheltenham. In an open year where jumping is crucial he could well be in contention.

Will Dan be able to resist it though??

The yard has L'Eau du Sud for the QMCC already, be up to the owners if they fancy taking a gamble.

Done the Trixie with Haiti Coleurs.....
