Cheltenham Festival Handicaps

Doctor Harper could be a possiblity. He rode The Package in the Kim Muir a couple of years ago for the same connections.

There was also some good money around earlier in the year for DH I think, can't remember if it was this race or not though, but whichever it was it seems connections had money down nice and early. Codd booking would be massive too.

Gordon Elliott would be another trainer who he could ride for. Not sure what he has entered without checking.

Without having to look through all the entries of the Kim Muir in depth, does anyone have any initial thoughts as to what Codd will ride?
Does he tend to just ride the horse with the best chance? Does he have a loyalty to any particular trainer in this? does he tend to ride horses that he has ridden before?
Trying to use the Codd angle to grab a decent price NRNB before Jocks are confirmed...

The main stable he is attached to is Gordon Elliott so if he has a well handicapped runner then that will be his first choice. After that I think the Pipes are next in line as they have a connection with Elliott and are also good for a handicap plot. Outside of those two I guess it's down to his own judgement and who can 'sell' him a ride on their horse.

Remember, the Amateurs don't get many chances in the spotlight so I'm sure they're all selfish with regards to riding the best chance possible regardless of the trainer or owner.

Doctor Harper went off at 4/1F in this last year but unseated when beaten. Ran off 141 last year and he's back on that mark now.

With Master Blue Eyes winning the Adonis, Divin Bere is looking very well treated in the Fred Winter off 137. He might be higher in the weights than the trends would like but the winning mark is increasing over the years. If Campeador had not fallen at the last hurdle last year, we could have had a winner off 142.

Presenting Percy just blown his handicap mark as well. Strange choice for him to run today. Master Blueyes was understandable but not sure why PP would run less than 3 weeks from the festival.

Davy must not have got the memo

I'm sure he'll get a fair lump of weight after that performance. I think a few on here have got him at 20/1 so at least we'll get a run for our money.

That's Jury Duty qualified for the Pertemps - as per the reports from the Goat midweek where Elliott's assistant said they like it for the pertemos and when quizzed it wasn't qualified said it will be after Chepstow- safe to assume the targets in 3 weeks - job done today!

Yeah reckon Elliott and his team will be very happy with that ;)

Well done to anyone who got the big prices on Presenting Percy. The juice has now long gone. Not sure what to make of Jury Duty. It was how far turning in and he has ended up getting trounced. Better ground should help but he didn't look a strong stayer. The winner would likely need soft ground to make an impact but this looked a big improvement.

I put Presenting Percy up on here a few weeks ago. Not sure he has done himself any favours today as I think he would have got in anyway without running today.

Gayebury had the look of an incredibly well handicapped horse and I couldn't believe he was on the drift last night but the money came today. I'd say that was exactly what they were after with Jury Duty today, however he doesn't look particularly well handicapped. Went up massively for his last win.

I think if Presenting Percy goes up more than 10lbs from his irish mark it will make life a little tough. Come on Phil 7/8lbs will be lovely.:)

You'd imagine his Irish mark will go up 8lbs alone so he could really hammered once Phil Smith comes up with his UK rating. I think he'll be running off more than Mall Dini did for the same winning connections last year.

Damn. Yeah Mall Dini was off 139 last year. Phil has some work to do before wednesday

Anyone got any clues as to where Singlefarmpayment is going to go?

Personally, I think he would be better off in a handicap.
