It's possible to do this statistically if you have the right dataset. I've been thinking of doing it for a long time on the flat, but haven't got around to it - this has given me a nudge to do it on the jumps instead.
The problem would be figuring out what to put in the model:

If the aim is to help find likely Cheltenham Festival winners is it necessary to include Aintree and Punchestown in the model?
Those courses demand very different qualities of a horse.
So why not just load the model with Cheltenham data or even just Cheltenham Festival data.
Imagine it would simplify the task and give a more accurate idea of whether a particular blood line is likely to bring us joy in March.
