Bass is confirmed for Jenkins isn't he, so LDS might end up with the stable jockey on anyway... if you care about that kind of thing.

If Jenkins jumps ever 75% as well as LDS though it is going to make him joint fav at least? His form is stacking up beautifully!

Admiral Chief in a bumper tomorrow also. Anyone know if thats going to be the case all season or tomorrow just to blow the cobwebs out??

They've cut LDS from 20s to BP 16s already... I think he will shorten regardless ... certainly won't get pushed out!



I think I read Admiral Chief is going novice hurdling this season but can't remember where... so I guess just a pipe opener?
 
My thoughts entirely Kevloaf. Cheers for the input. I remember admiral chief being backed well Ante post for the bumper last year only to be put away for this season
 
Yep Henderson confirmed Jenkins will be ridden by Bass so there will clearly be a good one for Nico to ride for sure, there's no way Henderson won't give him a good ride in the race. And like I said a few posts back if you go through the Supreme Henderson is more than happy to pitch 2 good ones together (Altior vs Buveur D'Air and Spirit Son vs Sprinter Sacre) so I don't see it as a negative backing both (Jenkins & LDS) at this stage.

Jenkins will have to put in some performance to make me as impressed as I was after seeing Lough Derg Spirit but the vibes from the stable are he's special
 
Can't wait to see Jenkins tomorrow - in a good little race too. It won't but a walkover despite what the odds say however, Captain Forez is Skeltons horse to follow for the season (though expect chasing to be where he really shines) and bags groove is decent horse too. Expect single figure odds for the supreme if he wins this race
 
Does Jenkins form read THAT well ?
 
If you look at his Newbury win on debut - he was mighty impressive but there's no firm since (bar him) that makes you take notice.

Onto Punchestown - the winner sadly suffered an injury over the summer so we can't judge him. Patrick Mullins said he was a outstanding horse however he was well beaten on his first 2 runs (interestingly over hurdles) finishing 10th and 13th.

The 3rd that day - Moulin A Vent - has franked the form winning a bumper at Galway in October then finishing a good second at Down Royal and the winning on his second attempt over hurdles at Punchestown recently.

Of the others...

Brelade (4th) - 2nd to MAV at Galway then won at Naas
Hardline (8th) - 3rd then won bumper in early Nov

The rest of the field have either not down much since or are yet to run. So it's not a race that has produced a lot of winners/formlines bar Moulin A Vent really. In all honestly if the yard hadn't of been talking up the horse so positively all summer then I'm not sure he'd be so highly thought of purely on that form but he showed enough in those runs (imo) and more importantly has had such positive reports forcing him to be highly anticipated

I hope he does but he'll do well to win tomorrow in a hot looking contest. I'm eager to see how he compares to LDS on his first run last Monday
 
This is going to be a big test for Jenkins today, it wouldnt be the biggest shock if he gets turned over. Captain Forez will be a big threat today and suggest having a few quid ew on him at 6/1. Hopefully Jenkins runs and wins as he likes, but he has competition for sure in Bags Groove but probably more so in Captain Forez.

LDS surely is a Neptune horse they couldnt pull him up after the line the 25/1 for the Neptune looks very tempting (if i hadnt already got the winner!!! lol). If Jenkins dots up today in this ill have a bit of the 25/1 after if its still available on Lough Derg Spirit.

Dan Skelton just interviewed before the race 'more people have heard of Jenkins than they have Jesus!'

Hopefully the bubble isn't popped in the next 15 minutes.
 
I loved that. Stretched right away after the last. It's an understatement to say he needs to improve his hurdling though
 
Dream lives on for backers. Skeltons horse also a good un.
 
Looked a decent race with the first three in the market all highly thought out. Plenty of room for improvement after that performance, which makes the distance to the second horses even more impressive

On the back of that run I think that its more likely Lough Derg Spirit will be a Neptune horse and ive taken 25/1 on him, I agree with all the points above. Hopefully Jenkins will stay fit coz he would be my biggest winner
 
Would obviously have liked to see a cleaner round of jumping but you have to be impressed with his engine and ability to pull away at the finish. Certainly happy to be a backer of Jenkins after that. For me Moon Racer is a worthy favourite but is far from a slick jumper himself. I'd expect Jenkin's jumping to improve significantly.

A quick word from Henderson on Lough Derg Spirit too today...

"Lough Derg Spirit looked seriously impressive at Kempton; a natural, but are you thinking Supreme of Neptune?"

Neither of them at the moment to be perfectly honest with you. It's very early days so let's see how things go. He jumped like an absolutely buck and was very slick but he's only a baby and still has plenty to learn. I didn't think the race was the strongest but a lot of people tell me the opposite as they see a performance like that and get carried away so only time will tell if they're right.

My two pence on Jenkins today - Very pleased.

You can teach and train a horse to jump quicker,slicker,safer (whatever you want) but you can't teach natural ability. Jockey was off the bridle before a few others but he has absolutely powered away.... he could have jumped the last in about 5th and still won. Very pleased to already be on and even without rose tinted glasses, I'd expect the 2nd and 3rd to win races in the future.
