Supreme Novices 2017

Missed the comment about Jenkins earlier, good form boost indeed at this stage.... lets hope he puts in a decent show. Be good to have a really good few English based darts for the Supreme to take on Mullins!

The way Senewalk jumped over the last he looked a very tired horse. I think 33/1 is an over reaction... he would only need to come out next time, over shorter, win and he'll be back in the first few in the betting

Anyone interested in Peace News today? There seems to be money for him. Ive backed him to win today and if he obliges ill be rolling that money over into the supreme at whatever the price is today.

Willie was interviewed on ATR after the Morgiana. He was asked about Senewalk and he basically said that he thinks the horse needs a wind op. They are going to check him over and see how he is. They will try get him out again for the spring but if not they will put him away for the season and preserve his novice status for next season..

I backed him at 9/2 and rolled him over at 16/1 so effectively a 92.5/1 outcome by my calculations, hopefully he goes that way, they way he quickened up looked pretty impressive to me and he was well on top under hands and heels. The 2nd and 3rd favs looked to run there races so the form looks solid, JP paid over 300k for his, so youd imagine he will be useful and he was well supported in the market. Im pretty convinced we have seen a very useful horse there and hopefully a contender for the Supreme going forward, but will find out when stepped up in grade.

Good work billy, he looks a really nice prospect.

Thought that had to be the case. Will surely try all the stops to get him back for the spring considering he was doing his good bits of work around Cheltenham time this year. Could be a cracking price if the wind op works? Unless they are confident Ricci has another one to step up?

Riven Light is meant to be a good animal

Mullins has a few novices to come out yet, think he was gutted to lose Peace News by all accounts

Some good horses have won the race Peace News won today... can't find the list of winners myself, I know Valsuer Lido was one... Some well represented connections in todays race so time might show it to be a decent race! The Mullins horse drifted all morning but on the coverage ATR said it was well backed before the off... lazy jouralism.

Bleu et Rouge won it and then went on to win a novice grade 1 and also Sempre Medici won who is now rated 150, as did valseur lido

Yeh that was the 3 they mentioned, thanks... I can't find anywhere that easily lists previous winners of races like that?

Also, have I missed something on Melon? Has shortened to 12 and 14s after sitting in his box?

I subscribe to the Racing Post members section and if you go on their race card it has previous winners on there

I was really taken by Lough Derg Spirit in the opener at Kempton today. Not sure you'll see a better jumping display from a novice hurdler this season on their first run - jumped superbly. Currently 20/1 for the Supreme.

Henderson seems to have a few decent novice hurdlers in his rank this year with Thomas Campbell and Claimantakinforgan both impressing in the last few weeks. With all the good vibes coming out of the stable about Jenkins i'm hoping he follows suit and puts in an equally impressive display on Friday.

Just watched Lough Derg Spirit... you're right jono that looked really good. Hendo likes to promote todays card too so you'd assume he sent 'a good one' ... Really impressive. Going to back that at 20s

Yeah I couldn't resist the 20's Kev. It's also not unlike Henderson to run more than 1 good one in the Supreme either:

2016 Altior & Buveur D'Air
2014 Josses Hill & Vaniteux
2013 MTOY's & River Maguire
2011 Spirit Son & Sprinter Sacre

So where as many trainers you may have to think they'd split there novices over the different trips - Henderson tends to always favour the Supreme over Neptune even if it means his best novice hurdlers against eachother. Has a phenomenal place record over the last 5-6 years too so he's always one of the first trainers I go to for this race

one of the worst weekends ever for antepost betting. not only with senewalk but with annie power as well. Think I might lay off bets until after the new year lol

I was also impressed by LDS. He really attacked his hurdles and looked like he'd been jumping them for years. If Jenkins doesn't impress on Friday I'll be backing LDS for this.
