Mine

1. Thistlecrack
2. Sprinter Sacre
3. Annie Power
4. Douvan
5. Don Cossack

then

Altior, Yorkhill, Vautour, Ivanovich Gorbatov, Black Hercules.

1. Sprinter Sacre
2. Annie Power
3. Don Cossack

( we all love a comeback story and the 3 biggest races all had one)

Altior and Douvan would be 4/5.

If you're an old sentimental fan then Sprinter Sacre would top your list, if you rate this on pure ability and domination then the two I'd have would be Altior and Thistlecrack.

I made the Supreme a very good renewal and for him to pull 7l clear of the hotpot and 12l clear of the 4th was some performance.

The Gold Cup will forever be another Ten Plus, Silivi Conti debate, Cue Card going so well will always cast doubts over whether DC would have won the race.

Annie Power I can't have as that was a weak renewal for me, MTOY doesn't race for 2 years and finishes 4l runner up says it all for me.

My 5:

1. Altior
2. Thistlecrack
3. Sprinter Sacre
4. Douvan
5. Yorkhill

Vatour, Black Hercules and Cause of Clauses worthy mentions....

1 Thistlecrack
2 Don Cossack
3 Yorkhill
4 Vautour
5 Altior

My top five were:

1. Thistlecrack - unbelievable performance
2. Cause of Causes - he looked dead and buried at the top of the hill, yet jumped into the lead at the 2nd last.
3. Altor - an impressive winner of a good supreme.
4. Sprinter Scare - brought a tear to my eye.
5. Diamond King - purely from a punting point of view, my biggest lift of the week.

It was a great week but really tiring. I could do with a week off work to recover.

We were saying exactly the same last night.
Years ago having 6/7 days on the beer with little sleep wasn't an issue but these days after the Tue/Wed of festival the Thursday I need a break.
I'm always on my own for Thursday and watch a couple from the middle of the course, do the pre-parade ring, winners enclosure etc, I love it but the day is spent walking around drinking water !
I hot some decent snaps of Sprinter Sacre and Thistlecrack in the winners enclosure, no idea how to put them on here though !

Hope you found a few winners FM, roll on 2017

Had 13 winners in total, it helped backing 6 out of 7 on the Thursday. We only go racing Tuesday and Wednesday but get the train home first thing Thursday morning to allow us to watch racing in our local on Thursday and Friday. The traveling back after having two big days drinking is a killer.

I took your advice and got on the course on the Tuesday morning and it was superb. Thanks for suggesting it.

I need to recharge my batteries before Aintree as it's just around the corner.

Can we count the bankers as winners? If so, I had 8 winners, but it felt like one in all.

This year I struggled to pick any big priced winners and kept hitting the cross bar with a few places. I made a mistake by having very large bets on outsiders that came no where so my bankers were just keeping me in the game. Come to the last race I went in hard on the Harrington horse at 11/1 to win around 16k, which he went off 9/2 fav but same again... left with only a place.:(

At the end of the day I didn't lose and was up a couple k, but it felt like a loss because of all the hard work that went in.

In terms of performance:
1. Thistlecrack.
2. Annie Power.
3. Sprinter Sacre
4. Vautour
5. Yorkhill

Pocket talk:
1. Diego du Charmil (brought up a £50 free bet Douvan,VVM, DdC treble)
2. Limini (£5 free bet of VVM @ 10/1 and Limini @ 4/1)
3. Yorkhill
4. Vautour
5. Annie Power

My biggest priced winners were mall dini (20/1), solar impulse (28/1), UTPT (20/1) and thistlecrack and any currency, both at 10/1. It was a strange festival as even the handicap winners were going to fancied horses.

I did my conkers on the county hurdle as had my biggest bet for a number of years on blue hell. Finished the week well ahead but put a decent in my winnings on the Friday even with a 28/1 winner.

F_M, was Mall Dini your cover bet for Tag? I think Tag ran a cracker btw off top weight.

I was wondering how on earth was I up at the end after losing so many big single bets and forgot I had the Ryanair tricast up that paid 60/1.

A lot of the horses that got flagged up on here shortened up between NRNB and the off.

All of the Championship race winners were flagged up on the horses to follow section before they became household names.

If you look at the races on who they beat and how they beat them then I think it has to be the following 1 2 and 3.

1. Vautour
2. Thistlecrack
3. Sprinter

How did you get on Ista??

Cracking week thanks FM.
Netted 8 winners but I was playing 2 in many races and 3 in the big handicaps.
Had Garde La Victoire for a £35k yankee (Minella Rocco, Diego Du Charmil and Altior) so was fairly deflated in the Cotswolds sun when he hit the deck but followed that with Thistlecrack, Empire of Dirt and Limini so not the worst day, just not £35k !

Backed a few in the 4 places market too for nice returns, L'Ami Serge, Barters Hill, Paint the Clouds amongst them.

Anyone else suffering post Cheltenham blues ?

Do you not rate the Supreme form LR ?
I make that one of the best renewals of the modern era and Altior turned it into a procession....

Hi Isty do you not think the Supreme was full of horses that have looked better than they are on the testing ground we've had since December, I kinda read it that way with Altior coming good on the much better ground, it will be interesting to see how a few in behind progress

I think Belshill won a G1 at Punchestown on quick ground and Silver Concorde won a champion bumper on decent ground, and them two were beaten half the track.
The confidence behind Min was telling, I think they were genuinely shocked when Nico went past theirs and kept pulling clear.
Supasundae was well touted leading up to the festival and Buveur D'Air and Tombstone are G1 winners waiting to happen.
It may take a year or so but re-visit the result at some point in the future and I reckon this will go down as a serious renewal, could be wrong of course....
