They dont come back you know ...

except

Bobs Worth/Simonsig ( jury still out) at Aintree
More of That at Cheltenham
Sprinter Sacre at Cheltenham

...

Sir Des Champs entered at Thurles on Thursday.

Maybe AP will change his mind too.

All work in progress rather than finished article OV. Sprinter by far the most impressive in my view.

A lot of Henderson horses there MTOY the next one ?

What went wrong with Sir Des ?

O'Faolains Boy entered in Betfair Chase.

Sir Des declared at Thurles.

The long-absent Pont Alexandre could make his chasing debut at Gowran Park on Saturday.

The seven-year-old French recruit was hugely impressive on his first two starts for Willie Mullins two seasons ago and was sent off a hot favourite for the Neptune Investment Management Novices' Hurdle at the 2013 Cheltenham Festival.

He had to make do with minor honours, finishing third behind The New One, and has been sidelined by injury since then.

Pont Alexandre could, however, now make his comeback in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Beginners Chase.

Mullins said: "Pont Alexandre is entered at Gowran Park on Saturday.

"We have a number of entries and will decide later in the week.

"He's in good form and has schooled well."

Impressive return from Sir Des Champs - the gold cup looks trickier by the week

You're not wrong OV, I certainly wouldn't want to be running something with dubious stamina with the field they could be facing, non stop gallop for 3m2f with a steep uphill finish, half a dozen that could feasibly track Coneygree, doubt if many could get past him, but any chinks in stayability will surely be exposed.

....so 2miles for the favourite ;)

Pont Alexandre, remember him ?
The name alone brings back cold sweats and reminders of losses in The New One's Neptune but he has novice chase entries at Gowran Park on Sat and Thurles and Fairyhouse next week having been off the track since that race....

More cold sweats !!!

A quick review of Saturday's Ascot card and I find Captain Chris entered in the big chase.

Need to make sure head rules heart in the coming days....

Pont Alexander caused some pain here too. :heart-borken:

I thought Sir Des was most impressive of all the horses mentioned on this thread.

Pont Alexandre stung me too, but there isn't another horse in training that I've been more keen to see get back.

Let's hope that he gets a decent run into him shortly.

I think we had him as the 2016 gold cup winner on an old thread - I wonder if he is ground dependant even if back to best which seems theme of the season

cue card was brillant today. kudos to paddy brennan too - another comeback kid :D

It would be good if Dan Skelton could get al ferof back into contention for king George....another horse coming back after breathing issues. Shaping up to be a cracking race.

Had almost forgotten about him. Great when they still produce 5 years on.
