Handicap Shortlist - Cheltenham 2020

anytime - agree - 20/1 is more than reasonable with NRNB. Had a small dabble myself. Would love to see Dallas Des Pictons here, great second in the MP last year, should make a better chaser - has to have a huge chance IMO.[/QUOTE]

Yep,
struggling to work out where that may run.
My first instinct is the Plate.

Could very well do. A lot will depend on what rating the handicapper gives him. I think Beakstown will end up in the plate, he would have to have a chance in that race Skelton been saving him for it all season.

I thought Beakstown might have been better, and I think they thought the same.
Not sure it's been the seasons plan to plot it for a handicap but they have no real choice now.

Column Of Fire declared for Punchestown tomorrow, let's hope it goes ahead this time.

Tower Bridge is still a novice and finished second to A Plus Tard last season in the Close Brothers, wondering if anyone is interested in him?

Seemed to start the season well, chasing home Tornado Flyer but since been tried over 3m to no avail. Mark is pretty much bang on now I'd imagine to (taking the UK handicappers hike in consideration).

I'm not sure how returning horses fare for a race like the Close Brothers?

I took 20s Nrnb. But noticed it was red on oddschecker! thought something was up?

Yep he's on my list. Could run off almost the exact same mark as last year. Looks a plot to me but waiting to back him until I see what other firms do when they are NRNB

I backed it @ 22-1 in the any race market a while ago.

25/1 NRNB for OTBS does look excellent... going to get my mate to back him for me now! can't see that lasting...

As mentioned recently on the weekend racing thread he was very well thought of at the start of last season and I got the distinct impression they thought he was a better prospect than Santini. I backed him for the RSA and though I was delighted he ended up running in that race the run itself was abject and was the second time last season he ran like that at Cheltenham over fences. I knew he flew up the hill before as a Novice hurdler (not at the Festival) but with an issue with sore shins which a few flagged last year (probably worse on Cheltenham’s undulations) on top of those 2 abject performances at Cheltenham over fences and I struggle to see him as an attractive antepost betting proposition at present

isnt hendo adamant he'll be kept to small fields too?

OTBS - reminds me of Josses Hill (same colours). Can't jump, doesn't like big fields and not at his best round Cheltenham.

Taken 50/1 (Bet365) on Mohaayed for the County, now rated 142 which is only 3 higher than when he won it two years. Also finished 8-9L behind the winner last year off 153. Seems a reasonable price to me.

Yes got him in several singles/doubles..cant see him not going close..

Don’t see any prices and a bit left field
Does anyone think that burrows saint could show up in the coral cup ?

Finally, some sense written about On the Blind Side. :highly_amused:

I assumed I'd completely missed some of his form, or I had got him confused with another horse.

Hendo lining him up, as some kind of plot for the festival? I don't see it.

On Champagne Platinum:

Quote Nicky Henderson, trainer: "Champagne Platinum is a good horse. He won over two miles but he'll be going further sooner or later. He took a bit of time to warm up to his jumping at Cheltenham - we schooled him this morning and he was very good."
