Well folks, I'm not sure if people are keen to keep their cards close to their chest regarding their ante-post shots for this years festival but thought I'd throw in my few bets so far! I didn't get on anything mega early, November time was about the first time I put a bet down....

Supreme

The Tullow Tank 12/1
The Liquidator 25/1

I actually had the Liquidator at 25/1 after his first run this season. He was as low as 12/1 before he had a terrible race last time out and now he's a general 25/1 shot or higher. I'm hoping that Pipe can get him back to a bit of form for the festival though. The Tullow Tank is the one I really like though and I'm hoping that Fenton goes this way with him. He probably would have no problem staying the Neptune trip but that looks a better race so hopefully he keeps him here.

Arkle

Champagne Fever 5/1
Felix Yonger 12/1

I've thought that these two are the best 2 milers for awhile now and it's looking likely that CF will step up in trip. Who runs in the Irish Arkle on Sunday and who runs in the longer trip this saturday could be a telling factor. Whichever lines up though I think will take all the beating come March.

Champion Hurdle

Hurricane Fly 7/2 NRNB
My Tent Or Yours 5/1 NRNB

I suppose I've copped out a bit here but I cant see past these two. Hurricane Fly will be carrying the weight of my money (as he has done the past few years!) but I do like MTOY too. The new one obviously has course form but I don't fear him as much as perhpas Annie Power who I'm raging I didnt catch when she was around 12/1 a few weeks back.

Neptune

Apache Stronghold 16/1
Faugheen 6/1

Apache Stronghold is a horse I've always liked and looked very good winning last time out. He has had a setback since but I'm hoping Meade can get him back for the festival. Faugheen is probably the most popular horse to win at the festival but there is still a doubt that he might go up to 3 miles. I think he has the necessary speed to win a decent renewal of this race though.

RSA

Morning Assembly 14/1

Ballycasey is obviously a high class horse but he is definately fragile. He missed last years festival and he hasn't been seen in awhile. Morning Assembly has looked very promising since he won a Grade 1 at the Punchestown festival. He has won all his starts this year barring his last one where he was second to Carlingford Lough who has a lot more experience over fences than MA. Hopefully that race will stand him in good stead for Cheltenham.

Champion Chase

Bailey Green 14/1 NRNB

Obviously this race will cut up big time if Sprinter Sacre is or is not fit to go. However I think Bailey Green would be around this price whether or not SS stays in. I think he'll improve again for his good second at Thurles and after his good showing last year in the Arkle he could have a squeak. Could very well go for the Ryanair but Mouse being the cute hoor that he is might just look to take on the big boys!

Jewson

Don Cossack 16/1

Probably not my best ante post bet as he has a good few engagements but I think Elliot might steer him down this route. I would be hopeful that Bright New Dawn goes for the RSA so that would free up DC for this one. He doesn't strike people as a speed horse and could be vulnerable to a speed merchant like Oscar Whiskey but I think he has more pace than he is given credit for.

Ryanair

Al Ferof 6/1 NRNB

My first English horse I've backed ante post! It's not a slight on the English horses but I guess my patriotic nature leans me towards the Irish ones first! Al Ferof could very well go for the Gold Cup but I think Cue Card and First Lieutenant will go there and maybe Nicholls might convince John Hales to send him here and keep him for next years Gold Cup. If he does line up here, he'd obviously have a great chance with his Paddy Power Gold cup win and Supreme win showing he does very well around here.

World Hurdle

Monksland 14/1

Looking like I might miss out on this as Monskland hasnt been seen this year yet but if he was to turn up, even without a run, I would be happy with the above price. If Annie Power was to go for the Champion Hurdle then you'd have to imagine that Big Bucks at a current 5/2 is a steal.

Albert Bartlett

Briar Hill 7/1

Kings Palace obvioulsy sets a good standard but I think Briar Hill is a good shout here. He acts around Cheltenham, goes on most ground and looks like he stays. Willie (like in all the novice races) has a few others that could line up here which may re-route BH but hopefully he lets him run.

Gold Cup

First Lieutenant 12/1

Bobs Worth is a bit of a shoe-in if I'm to be honest here but I think you'd get the current prices on him on offer on the day. First Lieutenant has a shocking win record (1 from his last 15) but he is a dour stayer and has twice finished second to Bob's Worth (once in the RSA) and I'm interested into how the extra two furlongs might suit him.

Nice book skippy. Think you have most in the right races. I know that serious bettors should keep records but must confess my bets are all over the shop. I'll have a root through my accounts latter and stick up my darts.

Posted my main bet on the http://www.fatjockey.com/forum/showthread.php?808-Cheltenham-Antepost-Lucky15 thread

Yankee (x11) 110.00 to win 279745.00

Arkle Chase - 2014 Arkle Chase 2014 - Champagne Fever 9/2 -- Open --
Albert Bartlett Novice Hurdle Albert Bartlett Novice Hurdle - Faugheen 12/1 -- Open --
Neptune Novice Hurdle Neptune Novice Hurdle - 2014 - Briar Hill 12/1 -- Open --
Supreme Novices Hurdle 2014 Supreme Novices Hurdle 2014 - West Wizard 20/1 -- Open

Not looking like even one will run :(

Took some of the 6s on Bobs Worth after the Betfair Chase but havent played too much yet.

I have the Tullow Tank and Red Sherlock for the Supreme both at 30+. Wrong race for Sherlock.

Left the Arkle alone.

Ditto with the Champion Hurdle. Think there might be better value nearer race time than right now.

Have a bit of shrapnel on Tiger Cliff/West Wizard for the Neptune. Done my dough I think.

Took some fancy prices 20/1+ about Captain Conan for the Champion Chase and not unhappy with that one.

Have Reve De Sivola at over 20s average for World Hurdle but hope he doesnt run at the weekend.

Have Al Ferof at double figures for the Ryanair - Betfair so no parachute.

Oscar Whisky is a bit of a cliff horse for me but took 12s after he lost FTO.

Had Faugheen at 12s for the Bertie Bartlett but more likely to end up in Supreme than in that race

Also backed Sir Des after the Lexus.

All in all not a great book with the exception of The Tullow Tank.

My note to self is to back horses in the " to win any race market" next year.

Arkle - rock on ruby 13s 12s
Supreme - irving 10/1 garde la victorie 26/1 west wizard 16/1
neptune - Un Temps Pour Tout 65/1 Red Sherlock 26 24 18/1
RSA - Champagne Fever 17/1 Annacotty 44/1
JLT- Caid Du Berlais 28/1
Triumph - Ivan Grozny 36/1 16/1
Bumper - Black Hercules 8/1
Albert Bartlett - Port Melon 44/1 Briar Hill 12s down to 8
Champion Hurdle - Fly 9/1 Annie Power 20/1 Jezki 16/1
World Hurdle - Monklsland 44/1 Big bucks 4/1 Fingal Bay 50/1 ( very ambitious )
Champion Chase - Arvika Ligeonniere 46/1 DONE MY CASH THERE I THINK

Not bad i guess pretty happy with the Ivan Grozny bet looks a bit good that.. although Plinth beat him on his debut and you can still get decent odds on him

Albert Bartlett, Champion & World Hurdle all look promising there Blackngold. Yeehaa nice take on TTT for the Supreme. With all this talk of Champagne Fever stepping up in trip I've taken 7/1 for him in the JLT (Jewson) Chase.

Annie Power Mares 7/2
Quevega World Hurdle 6/1

double added:p

big move on the exchanges for briar hill in the supreme! 50s down to 20s surely not? took some 50s yesterday just in case... also have added djkadam for the jlt, urban hymn AB, Sure Reef AB, and gone in again on monksland. Mayo i can see that happening to be honest... first year out of novice company for Annie i just dont think they will risk putting her in the championship races ( think she would have a hell of a chance mind ).. and quevega has done her 5 mares so she might move out of annies way now..

Topped up on TTT at 10s for Supreme.

Thinking about adding Vautor but a bit worried Paddy's are de best price at 12s.

Could be a weekend for a bit of research.

Going to take RC's hint and try and gather some thoughts on Bertie Bartlett and Triumph on my blog.

Good man Mayo :)

Anyone like to start at the end and tell me what JP s Grand Annual plot is this year  Ned

Ted Veale looked like a horse for the Grand Annual in the Irish Arkle....

2.5 mile novice maybe - will he be sub 140?

My first thought was there is no chance Phil Smith will let him get into that. He will add 5lbs to whatever Irish rating he gets for being Irish and another 5lbs for being trained by Tony Martin.

On the other hand he was 146 when he ran at Cheltenham in November and has been baaten 46.5L and 30.75L in last two runs so they must be expecting him to get dropped a bit:p. I have him as an an out and out two miler though.

Have added Balder Succes for the Arkle at 27s. Broke the track record on his first run of the season at warwick. Hoping for something similar today.

Balder Clipped a few points. Good ew option. any quotes from king

"The last 10 days have been very encouraging," King told Channel 4 Racing from Newbury.

"It was so important to get runs into a lot of these hoses. We will watch Balder and see how the preparations go (before deciding on a target).

"We could keep him for Aintree or Punchestown - the owners are keen to go there. We will see."

West Wizard has knackered a few nice looking accas. Cant give up the day job yet.

I have been keeping my powder dry for NRNB. Bet365 usually come out this weekend I think ?
