Is there much traffic on the roads to get a cab at around 11.30 am near town to the racecourse.

Or what's the best way in?

Cheers

Should be no problem with traffic at that time. We go at around noon and, while it's a bit slow, there's no panic about getting there. The bigger issue is actually getting a cab - you will need to order well in advance. Some pubs offer rides up to the course so you may want to look at that option. or you can walk - easy 1 mile walk from the town centre.

Best service is the bus that leaves opposite the boots on the high street. They partially close the roads to cars so the buses fly there

Be very slow going on the Friday (and slower on the Tuesday) Wednesday and Thursday you’ll be fine

20 min walk tops.
If the legs can’t take that there’s a bus service, runs every few mins from the station and town

I love the walk. The atmosphere builds and you are surrounded by genuinely happy people who are all buzzing. The same can not be said for the walk back :)

Definitely charlie, that was our standard route for about 15 years though I prefer to stay out of town these days and the comfort that comes with it...

Just leave the Betfair scarfs after you lads. Not a stylish look.

The residents must hate it every year when there are thousands of free scarfs/hat etc strewn across their gardens.

Best way to the course is a nice stroll, failing that Billy Hills offer a free bus service which leaves from outside their shop.

Always go for the walk if the weather allows it, part of my tradition now!

If you're physically able, I'd always walk. Traffic is mind numbing

How long is a piece of string. I aim to be at the course for opening time, so never an issue, but if you get there later, then follow the crowd, just enjoy the whole experience, it is something you will always remember.
