Albert Bartlett 2019

I like the look of Dinons for this ticks the box of plenty of experience, has some course form, on a line through de name evades me has stronger form than rockpoint. His kat run can be ignored as he was brought to a stand still and nor turn out after. 33-1 is a big price imo.

Dinons is a fair shout too. One I like also.

Completely agree. And the AB is usually won by a horse with a few races under their belts. Dinons has that too. He also holds C&D form too. That last run can be easily dismissed as he was severely hampered just as he was making his move. Had no chance thereafter and just cantered to the line.

Is Dinons not just a summer horse? 127 rated De Name Evades Me was on his first run.

I think Derrinross has the best form on offer thus far. Would you be worried that its a soft ground horse??

Yeah thats the only worry I have and tbh it's putting me off getting involved this far out. Trainers comments after his win at Limerick would lead you to believe he won't run or travel over unless theres plenty of give in the ground.

“We might have to look at bigger things now and while we mightn’t get a wet spring, if he gets soft ground he could run at the Dublin Racing Festival.

“I’d be fond of going to Cheltenham – I’ve never been there – and if he got soft ground, he’ll run in the Albert Bartlett.

“I think he’ll be better with a stronger gallop."

We shall see. He side stepped the main ballymore trial lawlors hotel. He's priced as if it's the bartlett. Imo all his form screams Albert bartlett. Id be confident enough it will be the Albert bartlett

Willie said he has a different profile. Think the plan was to freshen him up. Has entries at DRF. I like this horse, want him on side.

Id be strongly suspecting Albert bartlett. I'd stop short of saying certain. But should he run which I fully expect, I'd be as confident as I Could be on him.

I'll have a small play on defi bleu ew on the day (usually 4 places) should he be 25/ 1 plus.

Couple of stats (stolen from betfair forum)

10/10 - 27 day break

7/10 - 47 day break

8/10 - 6 or 7 years old

9/10 - 4 or more runs in the season

7/10 - Irish bred

1/10 - French Bred

2/10 - winning Favs

Kateson being aimed at a race at doncaster which will be his 4th race and 47 days before the AB!

i got face the facts added by skybet 25/1 seems ok

Sams Profile if he rocks up here ,stats against him but he dont know that. Solid runs and looks like he on upgrade , Mouse Morris I get the feeling likes him hell of a lot.

That French stat is going to have to blow for some of us that are on Rockpoint, Easy Game, Dinons and others I presume.

4 or more runs in the season knocks of Carefully selected despite him having 6 runs to date aswell

As noted on the Ballymore thread, the Ballymore Leamington Novices' Hurdle was a new course record, which only aids to my list of positives for Rockpoint. He set the fractions, and would have always been outpaced over shorter than 3m and on a flat track once those with real gears kicked for home, yet he was only beat by 9 3/4 lengths, giving 5lb's.

As noted earlier in the thread, being a French bred is particularly damning for the race but even with the French breeding stat it should be noted again that he is a half brother to Minella Rocco, Annie Power & most notably in recent times, Santini, who looks to want every yard of 3m and ran in this race to finish 3rd with plenty more stats against him than Rockpoint does.

Given the betting/race is still wide open, and the likely lack of runs for many currently in the betting, 25/1 still seems ridiculous for a horse with C&D form, albeit may not be the strongest of races, but there is improvement to come from him over the trip as well.

Right now I am looking down the betting, struggling to find a horse with form in the book that fits the trends I personally stick to, that I can oppose Rockpoint with.

Really hope we see Carefully Selected soon as he would be one of interest, though as noted by HF, he would not meet the 4 runs in a season trend, although that is not one of my 'priority' stats.

I’m on him for any race at some massive prices (40/1 and 33/1 boosted I believe) after he easily won at Cheltenham months ago.

I’m not sure he’s good enough though.

Dickie Diver running at Chepstow tomorrow with Barry up. Don’t think the 25s for this will last long with a good performance. I’m on at 33s and 25s any race plus have some tasty looking multiples with Santini & OKC, so hoping for the best.

Battle hardened horses usually win the Albert Bartlett; I like his profile but what will he get, 2 runs max before Cheltenham?

Tough introduction, Brave call backing him beforehand

Qoutes from Mark Howard book

Declan Phelan p2p expert - Tall bay gelding with a physical presence ,dare I say it but a dash of racing exuberance associated with the likes of Carvills Hill and Denman in his performance. As a mininum he will be a major player in the staying hurdle division this year.

Michael Goff (former trainer)This horse is probably a bit special the way in how he won. Rumour has it he going to Mr Hendersons , but whereever he goes he is going to be a very good horse.

Will wait for him to go chasing next season then.
