  • A promising weekend Bayoffreedom....? It must have been a treat just to see them both back on the course and happily doing their thing!

Hope they have both come out of their races well, and fingers crossed, onwards & upwards.

    • Zoran continues to run on the Kempton AW at 8.50 tomorrow evening due to a lack of suitable ground over hurdles. He drops in grade and should do well, despite shouldering top weight as he seems to like Kempton. Just hope he runs well and comes back safe and sound. Comment from OG below:

ZORAN (9st11lb) is a big horse to carry top weight in this lower class race. He could go close if he replicates the form he has shown over this C&D. We consider a value price to be 11/4.

A long awaited and well deserved win for Zoran on the AW - did it comfortably! Hope to see him hurdling shortly. Emma Lavelle notes he never gives everything in his races, so means he can back up relatively quickly and race frequently.

Good luck with your horse mate! The Owners Group provide a real good ownership experience for very little money. I'm sure you will have a lot of fun.

            • Totally agree on Owners Group - a great way to engage the wider public in horse racing - Wentworth Media oversee both OG and Elite Racing Club, which runs a breeding operation, from which horses are sold to OG on an annual subscription basis (Elite also run their own horses under separate colours). There is also EquiPrep, for the rehabilitation and retirement of horses. OG do informative videos and updates on a regular basis of all their horses, and also record discussions with the trainer / jockey in the parade ring before the race, as well as after. They also arrange stable tours and hospitality days at various racecourses across the country. Highly enjoyable and given me an appreciation of the dedication, time and effort required, simply to get a horse to the racetrack, let alone win a race!

I own a nostril hair of Diderot, who runs at 8 tonight at Windsor over a mile. Probably prefers 10 furlongs, and has performed much better on the AW (this is his first run on turf in over a year). James Ferguson's stable in great form and hoping this translates to a good run for Diderot tonight and he comes back safe and sound. OG comment below:
"Our View: DIDEROT (9st11lb) is yet to run well on turf but is a reformed character at home and has been very consistent on the all-weather recently. We hope he can run well but must improve his previous turf form to get involved. We consider a value price to be 12/1."

Diderot always at the back and never looked a threat - still, a decent run back on turf and will most likely go up to 10 furlongs next time.

              • Tiffany, an Elite Racing Club mare, races at 6 tonight in the Group 3 Hoppings Fillies Stakes at Newcastle. She's won over C&D here before, and trainer thinks this is a timely introduction to Group company, after she won her last 2 listed races in Germany. Hope she's competitive as has to give weight to some talented 3 year olds and comes home safe and sound. ERC comment below:
TIFFANY (9st7lb) has impressed when winning her last two Listed races in Germany. She is a previous course and distance winner, and her stamina is assured. The main opposition comes from three-year-olds who receive an age allowance, although those with the most potential, Chic Colombine and Darnation, have yet to run over this distance. Tiffany relaxes well during her races and has a potent change of gear, which should help at this track. We hope she can run very well and consider a value price to be 7/2.

Yes! Ridden prominently and quite a comfortable win in the end - she has a great turn of foot - will be interesting what targets the trainer has for her over the rest of the summer.

                • Donald McCain has decided to give Speed Davis another spin over hurdles whilst the ground conditions suit, to improve his jumping. Speed Davis runs in tomorrow's 1.20 novice hurdles at Uttoxeter and course / ground seem to suit. Hope he runs competitively and gets back safe and sound. Owner Group comment below:
"There is much to like about SPEED DAVIS’s (11st8lb) chances here. He has occasionally veered off a straight line when racing, so cheekpieces should help his concentration. The galloping track and decent ground should suit him, and we hope he will go close. We consider a value price to be 5/2."

Speed Davis raced prominently, jumped well and was competitive up to the last hurdle, then ran out of gas to finish a distant fourth. He's had a great season, and hope he enjoys his summer break. The winner, Gale Mahler, looks a mare to follow.

Thanks Rufus - sorry I missed this message

They are both running tomorrow. Unfortunately, the state racing is in has got me angry so 95% of the blog doesn't even talk about them. https://www.cheltenhamdream.com/blog...the-angry-blog

                      • Many thanks for the good wishes. Freedom to Dream confirmed he is no longer in love with racing, so we will have a long think about that. Really frustrated about Suprise Package as, the way the race turned out, he could have had a real chance. Unseating after two yards wasn't on my bingo card (and it's a pretty well-populated card at this point). We will likely go for a Flat Maiden next (provided he can get out of the starting stalls)

                        • Elite Racing Club (ERC) have three horses running later today.

Tiffany is backing up her recent Group 3 win at Newcastle, in the 2.40 Haydock Group 2 Lancashire Oaks. Apparently recovered well and trainer has high expectations over the longer trip. ERC comment below:
"The sole negative for TIFFANY (9st7lb) is that she only ran eight days before this Group 2 feature race. She lost condition (weight) following her trip to Germany at the end of May, probably because she did not eat particularly well during the few days she was away. Tiffany has recovered well from her brief trip to Newcastle, where she won easily. She looks like the best horse in the race with the most potential, and we hope she will run very well. We consider a value price to be 9/4."

Zapphire is running over an extended mile in the 3.25 at Thirsk to see if that brings any improvement. ERC comment below:
"ZAPPHIRE (9st7lb) is a useful filly who ran well in a competitive Class 3 race at Thirsk last time and now steps up in trip by a furlong and a half. She will need rain to ease the ground, but she has a solid each-way chance if behaving well and receiving luck in running at a trappy course. We consider a value price to be 7/1."

Quiet Sea is also running an extended trip (10 furlongs) in the 4.00 at Beverley. Not well handicapped and ERC comment below:
"QUIET SEA (9st6lb) was only dropped 3lb for finishing last at Kempton on 12 June and probably needs to fall further in the weights before she can be competitive. The extra distance should help, and we hope for a more promising display. We consider a value price to be 16/1."

Hope they all run well and come back safe.

                          • Tiffany did well after slipping on the bend to finish second - waiting to find out how she came out of the race.

Zapphire ran excellently to get pipped on the post - very encouraging showcase of her potential

Quiet Sea - awkward start and never got her running - hope the handicapper relents a bit on her mark.
