              Ile est Francais; KG/GC 16-1 (10-1 Sky).

(note; IEF is available @ a best price 10-1 for GC).

I like that as cover for him (appreciate he was 16/1 GC at some point). It is risky though as we know he’s running twice more this season with his big season target in May.

I think it may be best to hold off until he’s had his prep run or even the French Gold Cup. Whether the traders would be aware of those runs and take the selection down is another matter. He loses the latter race, depending on the manner of defeat, I doubt too many would fancy him for those 2 races.

Agree Craigy. They may be slow to react. Certainly have been in the past where races overseas are concerned. He is very high profile now though so it'll be a gamble holding off.

Looks like others thought the same as me then.

I thought he looked like a 2m4f horse in the kauto star

3m6f is gonna be an interesting one

If he's odds on that lay/place lay button will be hard to resist

Why he be going 3m 6f? Gold Cup is 3m 2f

(and a half to be exact, I think they claim)

The grand stipe his next race is over 3m6f

Which I'd have big doubts about him winning which makes backing him right now not something I'd personally consider

Certainly a proper slog over that distance in Heavy ground. Has a horse ever won both that race and the Cheltenham Gold Cup? Or even attempted it ?

                              Here you go....

The Fellow (1985–2008) was an AQPS top-class National Hunt racehorse in the early 1990s. He won the 1994 Cheltenham Gold Cup and narrowly lost the 1991 and 1992 renewals. He also won the 1991 and 1992 King George VI Chase and the 1991 Grand Steeple-Chase de Paris. Along with Mandarin, he is one of only two horses to win both the latter race and the Gold Cup.
