Very nice performance from Cloth Cap today off 136. Should get a few pounds moving him to the low 140s. He needs decent ground. Looks progressive.

nice run from the conditional on his reappearance. he'd be one for the repeat, especially if shaking off a couple lbs.

A few..., be 10lbs minimum surely 10L and running left be high 140s at the least imo. Just a question of consistency with the horse as he has potentially had a performance like that in him since his Ayr run thou hasn't always had his ground granted.

10lbs probably. I was being gentle on him. 146, might be able to lose a couple on the way to the Ultima.

You spend the past 4 years following a horse off a cliff and finally he learns to fly again at 66/1!!! I thought he ran a blinder today, I’m not whether his stamina would last 3 miles around Cheltenham but it was nice to see him win again, I do love Yorkhill

I thought he travelled into the race lovely with 2 fences today but his challenge faded. Hopefully he will come on for the run and be primed to defend his title in March

doctorwu 11lbs bud, did think 10lbs min based on previous average winners etc
should get in the national now(long term plan since AYR) if was good enough apparently.

Coupd go the Ultima but he is ground dependent(always a worry for any horse if antepost punting) and could use as a solid prep like plenty of Trevor's do(not that i'm saying they don't try)

The conditional ran a nice race on Saturday - maybe another race to protect that handicap mark and back to the Ultima to retain his crown

Ran a very nice race, however recent seasons have made me cynical and I’m looking more towards good staying novice chasers who might just fall short of RSA class and their trainers look to hide their abilities after Christmas...

Yeah, I'd be inclined to look this way too, though it means I usually end up with a list of about 15 horses and thats without considering anything outside of novices.

I wonder how compact the Ultima, Plate and the likes will end up now the Novice Chase is out the window.
