Does anyone know why Jaime Codd does not turn professional as a jockey?? I really don’t understand why he remains an amateur when he could make a fortune as a full time jockey

            1. He's 38.

            2. He's very good for an amateur but the pro game is completely different.

            3. I believe he's become more involved with the family bloodstock business since the sad death of his brother.

Cheers Archie. He’s been one of the best amateurs for 6-7 years now so I always thought he would have sat at the top table as a jockey, probably number 1 jockey at a big stable. Every time I see him ride I notice how good he is, out of all the amateurs I’ve never quite understood why he’s never gone pro but yeah maybe the family business commitment requires too much of his time .

                Cheers Archie.

I always assumed Codd couldn't do the weights that would be needed to be a pro jockey. Didn't realise he was so involved with the family business.

                  Is weight also an issue?

He's done 10-12 in the last 12 months so presumably would have been able to do less if necessary when he was younger.

Yeah that would not have restricted him too much in terms of available rides.

Oisin Murphy has tested positive for cocaine at Chantilly. He has denied ever taking cocaine and will appeal.

That'd be absolutely crippling to his career.

I hope he's telling the truth. He's good for the game.

I can think of a top jockey who's career hasn't suffered too much from failing drugs tests
