If you remove a purpose of a horse there will exist fewer horses. Thus the more purposes you remove, and let’s face it I’m sure they’re also opposed to other sports involving horses too such as Polo and Equestrian, the fewer horse we exist again. If a horse has no purpose at all, horses will cease to exist. So Animal Rights groups are almost indirectly advocating for the extinction of horses. That seems an odd position to take.
    Yep, laughable stance.
Animal Aid have one aim and that’s to see horse racing banned, there will never be any point engaging with them…

Would you actually trust the head honchos involved in jumps or in wider racing to do anything about it?

Is it not a bit of a closed shop and more about who you know in order to be involved in these racing authorities? Feel free to correct me if I am wrong about that but it has always looked that way to me.
Not just on welfare but to my wider point but about comms and the profile of the sport - racing in the UK needs a dramatic overhaul of leadership. It's basically self selecting from the same small pool wallowing in malaise, circling the drain to obsoleteness

          They're backing Keighley's 2 runners.

Probably cos of his recent form 5/7 have won (10/20 winners and 5 also placed) since middle of June.
Almost like he's had DQ's for drugs in the past.

That'll do for me. Looks like he's found some undetectable drugs then. Perfect. I noticed Hughes has come down for 2 rides...... should I think that is significant?? There's also a horse who's current strong fav who has form figures of PUPD......ummmm.

            • Many like the start sports interviews with Mr Nott myself included. The latest one is with the legendary character Terry Ramsden, well worth a watch even if he does regularly shove a trumpet up about his wealth

Great day out. The sun makes all the difference. Bit steep to get in (?25) but we needed our fix badly! Backed both of Hughes and both won. Only wish I'd have done them in a double! Planning our next trip now. Stratford is in the agenda.

You’ll enjoy Stratford Lobos. Cracking little track and great atmosphere. Just make sure you book a cab to get back to town like we didn’t

We used to go in the salmon tail by Stratford races, apparently it's now an Irish bar so could be worth a visit.

An Irish Bar that isn't Irish surely makes it an Irish Bar right ?

                        • We stay in Stratford ratherCheltenham for the Festival these days. If anyone is thinking of staying over I’d recommend eating at either Loxleys or Lambs, both on Sheep Street. Or if you’re happy to venture a little further Bariset Barn is very good.

I’ve not been in the Salmon Tail since it reopened, but it’s been a staple for racegoers for years before and after racing, so I’m glad it’s back in action. A better option is The Bell near Anne Hathaways Cottage. No further away from the course than the Salmon Tail, but not on the way back to town, so strictly as a stop off for a cheeky one or two if you’re not staying over.

                          • I went to Stratford a couple of years ago, I can't remember a thing about it other than it was an evening meet and possibly a hunter chase meet. I also did terribly. I do remember having a jolly good time though so it must be a half decent spot for a day out.

The Vintner in Sheep Street is also good

I work in Stratford and the re-opened Salmon's Tail hasn;t had very good reviews
