Russell replied: "I had goosebumps watching him. I'd give anything to be on his back and, fingers crossed, I can get back on him before too long

Maybe the agreement it with owner and Davy?

Jack when interviewed on RTV the same that Davy takes the ride when back.

It does make sense to use Davy's experience on the chasers.

Jack has years and years ahead of him and it'd be staggering if he wasn't quite dominent? I wouldn't be bothered at all if he was on board in the Marsh and beyond so it's not worth worrying about for me.

Both top 5 in anyones list surely?

None. I had a brain fart!

              • I tell you what, there is every possibility Asterion Forlonge turns up here after all.

Looking at the pile Willie has left in:

Asterion Forlonge - Jumping issues and right handed (though haven't seen him go left handed over fences yet)
                Blackbow - Not good enough?
                Energumene - Arkle?
Franco De Port - Potentially under the radar, one form line we have (that I found anyway) puts him behind Asterion Forlonge though. Most likely suited to the Arkle?
Janidil - Beat heavily by Colreevy LTO, probably not good enough
Klassical Dream - Where is he?
Lord Royal - Looks to need further
                Monkfish - RSA
Colreevy - Mares Chase, probably wouldn't be good enough for this race even with allowance

I can't see Willie not having a runner, so I suspect it will boil down to how they run and entries at the DRF.

Franco De Port could be his Arkle horse (and potentially Unexcepted still) which would release Energumene to come here, or vice versa, but aside from that he has nothing else that looks likely or potentially good enough, bar Asterion Forlonge. Willie has spoken about re-matches with horses previously, Min/Altior, Benie/Honeysuckle etc... and I think there is a possibility he'll want to have a crack at Envoi Allen with Asterion Forlonge, given he never made it past fence one the last day.

Maybe its a tactical play.....enter two and the loony one will clear the field for another to pop up the inside

You maybe right, but i seriously hope not as it would spoil the race to see others having to dodge him

                      Interesting angle.

You can't go to Cheltenham on the back of 2 falls.

So he would need another run.

The Flogas is the obvious place but would he want to run into Monkfish?

Are there many other 2 mile 4 graded races other than the flogas from now until the Fez - i cant think of many, unless there is something on Trials day at Punchestown on 24/02.

Could happen but I think waiting for the Punchestown festival is more likely.

                      • Racing Post journalist has mentioned on twitter full story and quote from Willie should be up soon. Re TBG set back

Exciting novice chaser The Big Getaway looks set to miss the remainder of the season after suffering a fracture to his hock but trainer Willie Mullins is upbeat about the seven-year-old making a full recovery from the setback.

A wide-margin winner of a Leopardstown beginners' chase over Christmas, the Joe and Marie Donnelly-owned seven-year-old had been among the leading contenders for a variety of top-level novice chases at the Cheltenham Festival, but did not feature among the entries on Wednesday.

The Big Getaway established himself as a high-class novice hurdler last season, claiming third behind Envoi Allen and Easywork in the 2020 Ballymore Novices' Hurdle, and Mullins admitted his disappointment at the talented chaser's likely absence for the rest of the current campaign.

Mullins said: "Unfortunately The Big Getaway had a setback since his last run. He fractured a little bone in his hock that needed to be screwed so he's probably going to have to miss the rest of the season."

He added: "It's disappointing but the prognosis is very good for a full recovery."

Mullins was still responsible for nine entries in the Marsh Novices' Chase and six for the Sporting Life Arkle, including leading contender Energumene.

Mullins has just two entrants in the National Hunt Chase, with Asterion Forlonge a somewhat unexpected candidate alongside Lord Royal. Star novice Monkfish featured alongside both stablemates in the 3m Festival Novices' Chase, as well as Grade 1 winner Colreevy

I don't know if the Thurles fixture is on that a had the rated beginners chase over 2m 2f that Real Steel won, before heading to the JLT (the year Defi won) but that could be an option?

Overall it is probably unlikely to happen, but I don't think it's a forgone conclusion just yet.

Colreevy could be an interesting entry in the RSA. At least she wouldn't he expected to carry a penalty in that unlike the Mares Chase.

I'd be siding with FDP being his Marsh horse or at least one of his runners. I know it's not wise to always take WPM quotes as gospel but i do think they see him as more of a middle distance runner.

"He could stick at that trip, but you'd obviously look at a longer trip for him, maybe two and a half. I'd imagine the Dublin Racing Festival will be the plan, we'll see how he comes out of this race today "

He's actually 20/1 for the Flogas and shorter for the 2m race....Given the ground can sometimes come up fast at the DRF, Monkfish wouldn't be ideally suited, either would Pencilfulloflead. There's quite a lot of deadwood in that market- he might actually be a bet for it.
